Same here. Forged internals are just to much for me to pay for right now.

First off, congrats! Secondly, I have the standard Vortech V-2, so you should make more power than me since you're adding the aftercooler. Last weekend I ran our local 1/4 mile twice.

1st pass: 7.98 @ 90+ 1/8 mile and 12.34 @ 111+ 1/4 mile.
2nd pass: 7.89 @ 88+ 1/8 mile and 12.33 @ 110+ 1/4 mile.

My GT only put down 351RWHP and I'm not far from 11's. If you put down 420RWHP, then 11's should be possible. As your GT will make much more power than mine, I don't see why you couldn't hit your goals of 7.6/11.9 in the 1/8 and 1/4 mile.

I really hope that's the case. Good thing is my car's an auto so the biggest variable, me is out of the equation.

Any plans on adding an intercooler? Are you auto or manual? What were your 60fts? What size/kind of tires were you running?

Like your GT, mine is an automatic with 4.10 gears. 4,500 rpm stall converter and sticky tires are responsible for my decent 60' times (best of 1.809, but mostly in the 1.85-1.90 range).

If I add an intercooler, it won't be for at least a couple years as we're saving every penny currently to go on vacation in Europe next year. In the mean time, I hit my original goals with the blower anyway. I was only chasing low 12 second timeslips at 110+ mph and I'm there with the current setup. High 11's would be cool someday, but at 11.49 a rollcage is required, and I am never putting a cage in this car as it's a daily driver.

Yeah same here I don't want to put a roll cage in it either. If that were to happen though the cage DonW has a great fit and finish to it and doesn't seem to interfere with daily driving. Can't wait till Nov. 17 when I'll finally get to run it at a track.

Question for Don- I know you prefer Barona over Qualcomm (Traction etc..) but how much have your times actually differed at both tracks?

Curious because for me I run dam near identical times at both with my fastest ever ET actually coming at Qualcomm.

BFG 275/40/17 drag radials, and they hook up perfectly with 18 psi. The centrifugal blower doesn't shock the driveline like a roots/TS, so we probably don't need as much tire as they do.

You are exactly right. The cage is nicely done and has zero impact on my use of my car as a daily driver. The only downside is if an adult wants to get in the backseat, they have to limbo in. haha. But, to be honest, hardly anyone rides back there anyway.

When I was N/A, I was quicker at the Q. But since the blower, my quickest times have been at Barona. Prior to this most recent build, only 5 of my best 20 ETs were at the Q, and all 5 of those occured on one cold night in January 2007. The track prep at Barona is better and the air is drier. The blower can compensate somewhat for heat and altitude, but not humidity. Funny thing about water in the air, you can't compress it and you can't burn it.

Nice Leo! That crinkle finish is pretty cool... I can't wait to see that in person some day. Hopefully at a track, too!

I thought vortech had the aftercooler in the engine bay. That looks like an intercooler. What am I missing?

Thanks. Well depending on what time Adam finishes the car on the 7th I might just try and make it down to Barona.

It does but I chose to go with an air/air setup and vortech only makes air/water. Plus not a big fan of the huge box that sits in front of the engine bay with the Vortech aftercooler. Both setups are interchangeable since Paxton and Vortech are pretty much the same company.

Things get started early at Barona that day (tech at 1pm, racing at 4pm). And there is no open test & tune... it's just for cars running in Rich Christenson's Arm Drop Live. But maybe the Q on 11/21?

Oh that sucks. Well then no doubt I'll be there on the 21st. I think Brian (Habu) is going to try and make down that day.
