Gears or driveshaft?
#21
I mean when i hit it when I'm cruising, my neck is jerking..... Whiplash style...
Good tires help... Looks like we have the same rubber. As long as you are cool when your accelerating on initial take off, then you'll be good. You try and slam down into it, you maybe side ways.
I couldn't be happier.
When I got my driveshaft after I got the gears installed, you could definitely feel that the car was quicker and and just overall fast. I am very, very happy with the performance level of this car. You will not regret going here.

Gears are a torque multiplier, so having a whipple already provides tons of torque, rendering the change in gears fairly useless. My GT, on the other hand, works great with 4.10 gears as I have a centrifugal blower which makes less low end torque than the whipple. In your case, I'd go with the driveshaft first, and maybe gears later.

If it is a stick, the taller gears will cause way more wear and tear on the clutch than lower gears do...
This is most obvious when trying to drive it easy. More power/torque, equals more wear and tear.
I know, the 3.31/1 gears in the GT500 are too tall!
BTW:
On a scale of 1 to 10 your seat of the pants gauge is gonna peg the scale at 10 for lower gears, and barely move the needle past 2 for a driveshaft.

Ok ok,
let's lay it down like this:
Three mechanically identical 5spd Stangs line up for a 1/4 drag. They are all Whipple charged. ALL factors are equal(tires, driver skill, rwhp, rwtq, setup, etc.) except for gears. The first has 3.31s, the second has 3.73s, and the third has 4.10s.
Who would win?

Sorry. Couldn't resist.
And in truthful answer to your question I really have no idea. Tom had great results and numbers with is 4.10's and Saleen. He was easily in 11 seconds. Torrence is raving about his. And although Leo has a Centri, he has a very strong car with 4.10's.
I would think that with DR's the 4.10's would win. With 235 street tires the 3.31's would win. So the next question would be what tires are always going to be on the car?

Well not to duck that question since I really don't know but my car actually pulls in 5th gear since I got the 4.10's put in. I can actually pass in that gear now. Food for thought.
