gear whine driving me nuts

ever since i had my bmr LCAs, adj UCA and panhard put in, i am getting gear whine, mostly just from 60-80mph. i just did a 4 hour drive and its annoying. how can i get rid of this? its only on acceleration. i was told this is normal, but i want to get rid of it.

Those parts amplify the problem. My dealer replaced my gears and I don't notice it anymore.

i had 4.10s put in a while before i did the rear suspension mods, the ford gears. never heard anything, even barely at all from the rear. am i going to just have to live with this because of the hard bushings?

Most of it is probably coming via the UCA. I just replaced my lower control ams and I have noticed a very slight increase in noise from the diff. I haven't done the UCA yet but I imagine I'll have the same issue. I did notice though that with just the LCA's my wheel hop is completely gone so I may not even bother with the UCA. You might want to try putting back in the stock UCA too see of that helps your noise issue.
Unless of course you need the adjustability. I am at stock height and don't plan to lower my car but your situation might be different.

o as far as launching, i can launch at redline and not wheelhop now lol. i got the 4" driveshaft so i need the UCA. o well my AVIC Z1 is going in, that should help drown it out.

I have the 4" D/S as well and my pinion angle is exactly where it should be.
I DID discover tonight my clutch blew up, sorta. It's not working well and there's significant damage to the bell housing, so I'd be carefull about launching at redline there as mine blew and I haven't abused the car at all.

heheh well I figured there wasn't much "value" in launching at redline but I've seen people do some really crazy stuff so whom am I to question it??

My UCA was the component that transferred the whine noise. Well, the Steeda shifter added quite a bit more drivetrain noise. That, I am sure, wiped out a lot of the whine from the rear. I am pretty picky though and when they replaced my gears I really didn't notice the whine anymore unless I really tried to hear it. Actually, the whine wasn't bad before they replaced them. I was mainly in for chatter noise around slow turns, which I still have. I just dread having them replace the clutch pack. I think I will pay someone that knows what they are doing, even though it is under warranty. Anyway, it would be nice if you could drive another car with an aftermarket UCA so you can hear the difference. I have the Steeda unit.

I am amazed at how many people say adding an aftermarket shifter didn't add any noise to their interior. That, by far, is the biggest noise maker I own. The transfer of noise is pretty great under load with no dynomat installed. The UCA and LCAs have nothing on it.

I believe it is adjusted right and no vibration or noise in the actual shifter at all. I backed out the stops to be sure. It is where it mounts to the body (I believe). I took it back out and added dynomat. Helped out a lot, but it is still there at 2500 rpm and up, mainly in 5th. I can reproduce the noise at a standstill while revving the engine in 5th. Could be my drivetrain is more noisy than others. Don't notice it when the windows are open.

Anyway, strange that the whining is that bad.
