Thumbs up

I am planning on installing 4:10's in my car.

1. I did not buy them yet, but I can get a brand new free set of FRPP 4:10's that fit a 91 T-Bird. I am pretty sure the T-Bird has a 8.8 rear but not 100% sure if this stuff is plug and play. Anyone know?

2. I have a decent amount of tools at my disposal and would like to know on a scale of 1-10 how hard is a gear install?

3. What other parts will I need for the install? Seals etc?

Thanks!

I don't know about the T-Bird question, but from what I've heard about installing gears, leave it to the pro's.

"The differentials for the MN12 Thunderbirds come in two sizes 7.5 and 8.8 (diameter of the ring gear)"

7.5 on the V6's and 8.8 on the V8's.

he difference between the standard solid axle and the IRS differential is a "Step" (grove) in both differential side gears in order to retain the Circlip (C clip) that holds the Halfshafts in place (see diagram). A "Step" is a grove that will allow the Circlip (C-Clip) to slip over the Halfshaft and secure the Halfshaft in the differential.
