Have you had the tire balance checked? If yes, maybe the drive shaft is out of balance. How many miles? Has it happened since it was new?

Not much help... but I remember some of the shops I talked to telling me they were having the same problem when doing gears in the GT... apparently the GT's are finicky... I don't know what they did to fix.... sorry... but at least your not alone...

I'm not hearing the whine but I do have an annoying vibration in the rear end. How does one rotate the drive shaft? I'd like to try this, if possible.

its easy.it has 6 bolts on a hub type setup that need to be removed.MARK the original location of the driveshaft to the hub.pull the shaft back, rotate it 180 degrees, reinstall with blue locktite and thats it.if that doesnt work, redo it and move another bolt hole around and try again.i started with 180 and got rid of alot of the vibration so i guess i will move it one hole at a time and see if it gets any better.MARK the original location!

I have a vibration between 50-60 that was not there with the stock 3.55's. I've been through 2 set of 4.10's - Precisions and now Ford Racing - and have the vibe with both. My installer checked my driveshaft and it's about .010 out. He rotated it and it may have helped a little but not enough to tolerate for too much longer. It's not severe, but it resonates through the car pretty noticably at 52 mph and again at 58 mph. Steeper gears tend to accentuate small balancing imperfections in the drivetrain. I probably had the vibe with the stock gear, but it would have been at a higher speed and was less pronounced. I'll take it in to Ford and see what they can do and I won't tell them about the 4.10's unless they ask.
