FRPP X-pipe?

FRPP X-pipe?
I'm sure there were several threads on this already. Sorry, I'm kind of late in the game. For those folks that have the X-pipe setup - Was it worth it? Was it easy to install?
It's may not give much HP, but it might give a few and it is not all that expensive. Maybe comparable to underdrives.

A local mechanic told me that the x-pipe is supposed to reduce exhaust noise/drone at highway speeds. I had mine installed right away, so I don't know what to compare it to.
It is part of the Shelby GT upgrade, for what that's worth...

Interesting - I hadn't thought about drone
Can't say I really have a drone problem, but sometimes I get a short vibration up through the console at 1K rpm. Only shows up in the cold weather and goes away after everything is warmed up. No big deal.
Bottom line, it may not be worth messing with the exhaust.
I'll wait to see if the FRPP intake ever makes it to market and if it's any good. It should help a lot at the upper rpm range.

I had it on my 2007 and I could feel a slight pick up mid-range with it. I had mine welded and never had a problem. It made the exhaust tone smoother. With the new Stang I'm still running the stock H-pipe and not planning to change.

The thing the FRPP part has going for it is it's cheap. But it's cheap because you have to splice it in and there is less metal... and what's there is 409 vs. 304 stainless which makes it cheaper.
I did a Magnaflow X on my car for a few reasons...
1. High flow cats.
2. bolt on installation with no cutting of the stock stuff.
3. Where the front O2 sensor is on the right bank, just in front of the cat, the OEM pipe is kinked.
4. It's lighter.
It'd very obvious it helped. The tone is very different than with the stock H-pipe, the car has picked up mid to high RPM power, and throttle response is also a big better too. I did that first to see what it did (sorry, no dyno's around to test). Then I did my intake and tune which did more... but I feel the X was worth it, but not sure if the X alone would be worth it without the other perks too.

I agree with sam strano. i had the Magnaflow high-flow catted X. Install was a breeze, it just bolts right in. Lighter. I also had the Magnaflow Magnapack Catback Exhaust and the tone was great. You could feel a lil gain in power as well. I no longer have it due to the turbo but i would def suggest the Magnaflow setup. IMO.

I had the FRPP on my 05 GT and removed it and installed a Pypes X in it's place. Sounds better, feels better and is a lot less trouble to install. The main reason I changed the X is because I made a bit of a mis-cut during my install and got a slight leak I couldn't stop. The Pypes X was a lot easier to install because the cuts are in places where the original exhaust pipes are straighter.

Had the x-pipe on my '05 with the borla touring mufflers. Very mellow but deeper than stock and quieter in the car. The engine did rev a little more freely at the top end, but I don't know it it was worth much horsepower. Just felt better. Heres a link to my youtube video:

Not that great a recording, but you get the idea.
