FRPP GTAS Making a knocking sound
Hi everyone. I've had the GTA's installed now for about a year. Ever since I installed them the drivers side makes a clanking sound when driving over very bumpy roads. I took a look at the setup the other night and noticed that what is happening is that the tip on the drivers side is hitting the body of the car and this is what is making the banging noise. I have tried to adjust these things to not do that but I cannot get enough clearance without the tips abecoming mis aligined.
Anybody else deal with this before with the GTA's?

Try loosening the exhaust clamps that connect to the H-pipe for better exhaust pipe articluation. Also, we've noticed the hangers that are welded near the exhaust tip can be bent up or down rather easily with some leverage so that may help to gain additional clearance.

Read this thread. It's about the Shelby GT but it may give you some ideas of what may be the culprit. http://forum.shelbyautos.com/index.php?showtopic=1301

Only 3 places I suggest to try and realign. The clamps of the axle-back to the mid-pipe. The hangers where the mufflers are attached to the vehicle. And the clamps where the mid-pipe meets the cats/h-pipe.

Bangin'
I have done numerous muffler changes to these cars...banging/rattling is most likely coming from (a)..muffler tip touching the thin metal of the body under valance where cutouts are for tips...and (B),,the most common...muffler hanger is touching hanger bracket or body of car typically on drivers side..cut off excess hanger material...at rear of muffler...and make sure muffler hanger is not contacting bracket at the bend..another crazy thing is...if you have all this clear and free when you look up under car...or car is cold....check it again when it's hot ...like after driving hard a bit or a long drive...you may be surprised at how much the exhaust system"GROWS"...when heated up. My tips will move out a good half inch or more from the bumper when hot...then as car cools down you can see them receed. Happened on both my '05 and '07! Check it out...no rattles for me anymore!
