Thanks Rocky,
I will give them a call on Monday. You should have seen me at Brenspeeds on Friday with my magnet running around testing all the different mufflers. The Pypes Vilators really are good looking and are truely 304 SS everywhere. The big surprise was 2 different sets of Bassani mufflers. The tips and muffler body were 304 SS but the inlet pipe on both was 409SS. That even surprised Brent. That inlet pipe will eventually rust off at the weld area. When you spend that kind of money for a set of mufflers ($550.00) they should be 304 SS everywhere.
I really liked the looks of those Vilators and the price but am afraid they will drone with my longtubes.Scott

In the meantime, what are you going to do with your GTA's Scott ?
On the other hand, if you really like the Pypes Violators, but are concerned with drone. You could always get high-flow cats to go along with your long tube headers.

NO room for cats of any kind with these OBX longtubes and H-pipe. Do your Violators drone much with the stock cats in place?

In fact, DarkfireGT has the Pypes off road H-pipe with his Violators, and says he hasn't noticed any drone at all.
It's funny when I saw this post. I've had my GTAs a little over a year and it is essentially a 3rd car and driven only occasionally in rain here in Texas.
Amazing--- they started to rust not on the tips, but on both ends of the muffler canister. Got a wire brush, removed rust and sprayed with rustoleum (for temps >500F). We'll see, in reading this thread---looks like I'm sticking my finger in a dam of sorts. I guess you get what you paid for ---need better steel from the FRPP stingers.....we'll see how long these last as I love the sound of the GTAs. IMO, they have gotten significantly louder as they age---with still no drone at cruise.

Luckily, my GTA's haven't started rusting, but the hangers by the tips on both have broke now... The first one broke and I got it welded up a few months ago and the second one just broke recently... I have had them for just under a year...
Just an update. I'm starting to think that my tips were rusting from what I might call "welding splatter" (for lack of knowing what the real term is). my guess is that when the tips got welded on, the weld was probably sparking and some of the weld splattered on the tips. This splatter is like the size of little specks of dust. It seems like since a few weeks ago they have completly rusted off now as I am not seeing anymore rust forming. I'll keep an eye out for it though.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but about the GTAs rusting...
The stock mufflers in my '95 GT never rusted in 10 years of ownership in New England when I sold it to buy the '05. The '05 shows no rust whatsoever after 3+ years.
So we're saying here that the "improvement over stock" GTA mufflers are actually made with an inferior quality stainless steel than the stock mufflers?!?
I'm quite happy with the sound of the stock exhaust, but wouldn't mind a touch more throaty sound, and I was thinking of going with the GTAs. Now I do a search on GTAs and I see this...

I always thought they used polished 304 SS for the tips? Even the aluminized Flowmaster and Edelbrock mufflers use 304 SS tips!
My Pypes Violators are made completely of T304 SS but drone badly. They're up for sale if anyone wants them.
