FRPP 5GT vs Borla Warranty

I was curious about these two mufflers and seeing how Borla does manufacture the FRPP 5GTs, I called up Ford Racing and inquired about the warranty coverage for the less expensive 5GT. Ford Racing said that if anything should happen (rust, welds breaking) it would have to taken up with Borla, who would stand behind the product.

Basically, it looks like going to the slightly more expensive Borla will get you the Borla script and the less expensive 5GTs will net you smaller 3.5" tips with the Ford Racing script. The warranty is going to be the same, according to Ford Racing.

Curious as to how much the warranty should even be considered.

Is it common for parts such as this to break or have faults?

My FRPP M-5230-5GTs have 4" tips. I'm not so crazy about rolled edge tips. But it seems almost every other brand has rolled edges. If you read that M52305GT have 3.5" tips, it might be a misprint.

What are rolled edge tips? Are they simply folded back?

They are both 4" tips, that has been noted in the past as a misprint. Definitely both are 4". Only difference is name stamped on tip area.

Things to remember about Ford Racing. They don't make anything. They don't warranty anything (even says so on their website). It's just a brand, albiet a brand that usually comes up to be cheaper in most cases.

But if something goes wrong, be prepared for runaround city, I've seen it happen.

That's not to say the stuff they sell is crap, I'm just saying that if you want that gushy feeling of a no questions asked warranty....

Caveat Emptor!
