Front Suspension Popping TSB
#21
There is a TSB for the Floor heater issue....it states for the dealer not to try and fix it, they are working on a solution. This was issued way back in November.
But thanx for the Service Bulletin.

I have most of the TSB problems but dont want to part with my baby.Ime to scared to leave her alone with strangers.I dont want scratches or dings.
Getting used to the gas tank deal and when i want to put in my drag shocks and springs i will address the strut popping.

I went to the dealer and let them know they did not fix the popping noise by replacing the steering column. I let them know about the TSB and asked if they could just order the parts to fix my car. He said no, they have to take the car in and check it first (they alreay know it pops). Then they can order the parts. So now I have to sit thru an appointment to confirm what they already know, then go back for a second appointment for the actual fix. The guy already told me that do not have the parts to fix it.

Wow..that sux.
I called my dealer Friday morning and gave him the TSB number, and set an appointment for an oil change. When I got there, they already had two tickets made out on the car. One with all the TSB suspension parts ordered on it, and one for the oil change.
Now to see if I can talk them in to cutting me a deal and replacing the springs while they have it apart

FORD: 2005 Mustang
ISSUE:
Some 2005 Mustang vehicles built before 4/8/2005 may exhibit an intermittent popping noise from the front of the vehicle while turning left or right. The noise will typically occur during low speed maneuvers and may occur multiple times while turning.

On both sides of the vehicle, install a revised upper strut bearing assembly. If the vehicle was built before February, 2005 it may also be necessary to install a lower spring seat isolator if one is not already present. Refer to the following Service Procedure.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Remove the strut and spring assembly. Refer to Workshop Manual Section 204-01.
Disassemble the strut and spring assembly.
If the springs do not have a rubber isolator on the bottom spring coil, install isolators. Clean off any dirt prior to installing the isolator. The isolator should be installed 4" (100 mm) from the end of the coil (Figure 1).

I'm not sure if I have the popping problem or not. Sometimes I hear what I think it could be when I leave or enter my driveway, but no where else. Maybe it's because I always drive with the stereo too loud and can't hear it. Should I just have the dealer do the TSB anyways? I hope they take my word for it. I car was built before Feb 05.
I just recently got my gas tank replaced. Before me, the dealer didn't even know there was a fix for it. I thought these guys where FORD techs?

Ok, I went into my local Ford dealer and handed them a copy of this TSB. They said, "we can't just keep throwing TSB's at your car everytime you find one available on the internet, we need to check your car in for diags and see if it really has the problem." I opted not to check my car in because I knew that it doesn't happen very often and I knew it wasn't going to happen for them. :bang:

I had an appointment today so they could "verify" that I had the probelm, even though I already had the car in their shop to fix it before. Funny part was it did not pop once on the way to the dealer. Even though I tried to make it happen.
I was waiting in line when the service mechanic drove by on his way in. He stopped and started to talk to me. Sad that we know each other already. He asked why I was there. I told him the service rep wanted me to come in to verify the problem. He said that guy is full of it. The parts have already been ordered for me. He told me to go home and he will call me when the parts come in.

Took my car in for the popping today, they drove it, confirmed the problem after I gave them a copy of the TSB, and told me all the parts are on backorder and they think that this is an epidemic. Good to know that they were willing to do the repair even though they saw that I had Steeda Sport Springs installed!
