I'm not looking to put down the biggest numbers, for me it's about adding more fun to the DD. I go to the drag strip occasionally but the limiting factor there is my skill.
From what I've seen in the little research I've done, it seems like the more aggressive SPR cams are limited by the stock heads and changing those is not in my budget, at least for now. My next steps after cams and headers are suspension and fixing up the paint/dings.

Yea no doubt. It just kills me because I was watching a video of a guys bullitt a couple days ago and he a clip of the car after each mod and the dyno numbers. And after installing the cams, his rwhp went up by 5...... -_- lol. It was a great video. I'll try to find and post it
My hotrod cams definitely picked up my HP. More so than any mod ive done. deletes plates, hi flow cats, 4.10, dyno tuned (pullies, CAI) stock manifold, pro chamber.
Forget headers, they rob ya on the low end.
The cams will wake the car for exhaust / sounds. If I'd done cams first, I could've saved thousands chasing that elusive big block sound.
I think cams should be a first mod before you touch the exhaust, including axle backs.

If you go on Comp's website, they recommend that you support your cams with long tube headers and gears. Because without those supporting mods, the car, in comparison will run like **** and has trouble getting out of its way. But as far as the sound goes, you're right, there is no better way to get the sound that big lumpy cams provide. The LTs made an unbelievable difference in the way my car feels. Well see how much actual difference they've made this Friday when I go to the track.

For long tube headers as a support mod for cams, you must consider that any aftermarket cam moves the HP/Torque curve into the upper RPMs. That's more where LTs operate as well. Besides, these 3 valve motors, even with VCT, are nothing special below 3000-3500 RPMs. That's why I went my mod route--to take advantage of rpms from 3500 to 7000. Eventually when I install a centri super charger, my mods, including the cams, will work together in the 3500-7000 range. Last, if you race your car on the street or track, when are you ever below 3500 RPMs? With my set up, I'm never below 4800 on any shift.

Can't speak for everyone but headers took away my low end. So I removed them.
Been look for other supporting mods for cams, I hear Ford racing intake reacts very well w/ cams. My cars is a beast w/ cams. Luv'em!

I think I'm gonna get some wheels first. Pretty sure I'll grab some 15" dark stars. Gonna cost like $1300 with the tires. Probably a little more if I go with drag radials. Which will probably happen lol
Today after work (and after the baby went to bed) I installed the mounts myself. It was a bit of work but felt great to have gotten it done. Took it for a quick test drive and the car seems to telegraph what it's doing better than before. It'll take some adjusting but definitely an improvement.
@muscledom Sweet, let me know how the drag radials are if you end up getting them. I'm thinking the cheapo option on brenspeed with the pair of takeoff bullitts that have DR's mounted when I go that route.
