I just received a mailer from my local Ford dealer about Ford Racings new "performance packs" and I wanted to find out if anyone had any opinions on these products, if they are worth buying through Ford or if going the "generic" aftermarket route is a better option? I'm going to be ordering a 2007 Mustang GT and I was thinking about doing some of these mods, but I'm wondering if it would be worth it just to have the dealer install them...

Here's a link to them:

Thanks!

The aftermarket products are not "GENERIC". That would mean they were exactly the same in performance without the Ford name. Many of them are BETTER THAN FORD. Some are not . TMS Forums should help you to decide which is which and what to buy and where. Read as much info as you can.
(The Ford parts installed by dealer should never void your warranty,no matter what.)

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that aftermarket parts were the same or inferior to Ford parts, I just didn't want to get caught up in the "Ford vs. X Company" arguement.

Really, I just want to know if anyone has used these Ford Racing parts and if they though it was worth the money....

Paul, I think you'd find that the parts that make up the performance paks are of quite good quality, and as Karman implied probably better than the stock parts. For instance, FRP catbacks are made by Borla. So you tell me - is that good quality? You bet it is. The suspension pieces in the handling pack are Eibach with superior shocks (way beyond Motorcraft quality) tuned by Multimatic. Superior - you bet !!

So I wouldn't worry about FRP. Despite the fact that the parts are generally not "made by Ford", they wouldn't be putting their name on the stuff if it was crap.

Ultimately though.....it's your choice. I happen to like the stuff.

Thanks Mark....I appreciate your input....I've already got an email into my dealer about adding this stuff to my car order, so we'll see what he has to say....he's a TMS member too, so I know he'll point me in the right direction....
