Called GEFRacing today. :notnice: Only a few dollars off retail.
But then I called John Bleakley Ford and they said $182! That's 19% off retail... just to order one. He said they weren't available yet, but he was going to put a few on order. I know where I'm going when I get mine.

Be sure to let us know how you like that part, and what the quality is like when you get it.

That looks good, Im sure some could take benefit using that "window" for fresh air with a hood.
I cant tell from the pic, probably my screen. But if theres a sealed window, how large is the opening on the the box, I can see inner fender just ahead of the filter and also towads the inner strut, and the dip stick...
Is that sucking air from inside the engine bay...no right?

Looks like its sucking hotter air than the OEM unit.
Juts cause its FRPP, doesnt make it better...IMO Just look at it

I think everybody seems to forget something though. What about the JLT? or the C&L? I certainly remember both of them saying that a "heat shield" made absolutely NO difference in performance. In fact both companies released their product without them and released the heat shields later just to satisfy customers.
I think it's an overblown issue. Don't forget these really aren't CAI's, we just call them that out of familiarity.

Not sure if its overblown, curious minds are interested.
I agree thats why these are called CAI, simply from the familiarity w/ the product.
But..I must say, Im surprised @ FRPP, because I see yellow inner strut tower w/ this piece.
Anyway...just thought I would ask about it, I guess no one is sure on this either.

I could venture a wild guess that they (S&B) may have been thinking that by leaving the back open it would allow the air to "flow" through around the filter. So in effect what they're attempting with this design is to channel the air around it, instead of attemting to inject it, so to speak.

Huhh...thats kinda what has me asking about this piece.
My thought was that it would be prone to warmer air there, above the manifolds, versus the stock location as we know it.
We have a bad enough issue with under hood temps, just cant see the thought behind this one.
Please...Im not trying to discourage anyone, they all work well Im sure. Just talking about it.

i would assume no shield would be optimal as the shield would produce warmer air pockets---just a thought---

I still haven't made up my mind on a CAI, I like that more and more are coming out. Makes my procrastination even longer
