Flowmasters & Pypes O/R H-Pipe on a Convertible?
Flowmasters & Pypes O/R H-Pipe on a Convertible?
Right now I have a 2006 GT Convertible with the following set-up. I'll list everything in case something has a bearing on more/less sound.
CDC Shaker System
Stock CAI
Stock Air Box with K&N Panel Air Filter
Flowmaster American Thunder Axle-Backs
SCT with BamaChips Tunes: 93 Torque/Performance/Race
That's about it, but I'm considering buying a Pypes O/R H-Pipe, and I'm concerned about it being too annoying with the car being a convertible.
Right now I have barely any interior drone. If there is some, it's not very noticeable. I've been told that the H-Pipe will not create any drone, but will only enhance it if it already existed.
I also want to know more about these resonators that can be welded in between the H-Pipe and the Axle-Backs. What do they do for the sound?
Does anybody have a convertible with the set-up I want to get, and if so, how do you like it? Any complaints?
Thanks for the help and any opinions!

ME!
It is a much cleaner look with the CDC Shaker System. I don't like the tube from the shaker coming over and just pointing toward the air filter on an aftermarket CAI. Doug knows my set up and tuned it accordingly. I'm sure I'll still feel a hellovah difference with the tunes (especially the 93 Race).

Well, the Pypes H-Pipe is on back order from BrenSpeed for up to 4-weeks! So, I ordered it and they won't charge until they ship, but at least I got my name on the waiting list.
Still would like to hear some opinions. I guess my chances are slim-to-none to find somebody with Flowmasters and a Pypes H-Pipe, on a convertible.

Just found out some info regarding "buying an SCT while using the stock air box", (like me):
Having a tune on a car without a CAI is very sensible thing. Not only do you gain the added power from the tune but the tuning will also resolve alot of issues that the Ford tuning has. The other way around is the unrealistic thing, why put a CAI on when you'll still have the throttle delay and lag... and keep the stock torque management as well?

All I can inject into this thread is that you get what you pay for. The off road H is cheap. It will increase your HP by a few. It will increase your volume significantly. It will also make your car smell. You may like the smell as others do but I don't. Neither does your local PD. You should just buy a nice set of longtubes with high flow cats. Some are very reasonable costwise and will give you much better hp/tq #'s, a great sound, and won't stink!

2.No **** it will increase your volume. That's why I got them. I could care less about the 5-8 hp. I'd say the majority of people that do this mod do it for the sound.
3.It does not make your car smell. When your stopped at a light with the windows down you might smell it. If you have your windows up you won't smell it.
4. "...Neither does your local PD." If your trying to say they're not legal well neither are longtubes and hi-flo's in California.
Cheap = Least expensive exhaust mod possible.
Stink = Smell of unburnt fuel and hydrocarbons coming out of your tailpipe.
Legal? You have me there!
I wasn't trying to **** on anyones cheerio's. I know of many people who have spent their $$ on an off road H pipe only to eliminate it once they progressed in their modifications. You can probably find one for much less than retail in the "parts for sale" forums.

Fair enough. No harm no foul. It's just that tone and context of what your trying to say doesn't always come out the way you meant it to online. The way it sounded was that it was crap, waste of money, stinky, and that no one should ever consider it.
Quite a bit of show, thank you! Since you asked, here's my favorite picture:

Oh, you want to see one with the top up, too? Why, it'll be my pleasure:

I would show you an engine shot, but I don't want to blind your eyes with cleanliness!
As far as go, it's fast enough for me, thank you! BamaChip Tunes kick some serious butt! With or without an aftermarket CAI.
Doug's the Man!

You know you want to. Plus If you don't like it I'm sure with your ebay skills you can get rid of it easily.
What are you trying to say huh???
