Flowmaster making rattle noise?
I have the flowmasters and have been hearing what sounds like a high pitch rattle from the rear of the car. It sounds like something is loose. Upon an exterior inspection everything looks/feels tight. Could this be one of the chamber walls inside the muffler coming loose? Thats all I can think of. Anyone else have this problem. Seems like in late 05 or early 06 someone posted on this topic, but I can't find it.
Heh. And to think I praised mine for the 1st year with no problems.
Well times have changed and these things are absolute junk.
heres pics, you decide if you want these hunk of junks.

My drivers side flow took a dump at 16 months old....I was getting a nasty vibration / rattle consistently at about 1800 to 2000 rpm.....
They have been replaced, and I am hoping the replacement set is past the early model issues.

Rob, I had the same problem in my Driver side flow. I had a unique issue because I didn't have my orig receipt. I went to a flowmaster dealer here in Tulsa and he called up Flowmaster and they sent him a new set free and he charged me 30 bucks to switch them out. They claim that the problem has been fixed since the first runs that had the problem. Which is a broken spot weld in the baffling inside. Produces a buzzing noise or rattle. So far so good with the replacement set. It was replaced in June this year.
Sure way to check for loose/broken baffles is to tap the underside of the muffler with a rubber mallet.
Couple guys in my area's local Mustang club have had issues with their Flowmasters - somebody told them they can't handle the improved exhaust flow from the longtube & o/r x-pipe combos that are on their cars. One switched to Borla/FRRPs, the other to Spintechs. Problem solved.

This my sound stupid but wouldn't this be a problem with an SC add on as well? I plan on putting SC on soon.

After 4 warranty replacement sets, I sold them NIB for SLP LMs. I was promised that on the last set I got, the design flaw was fixed. I didn't want to take that chance again. They had told me that before. I love the way they sounded more than anything, dont get me wrong.
I too am a believer that if you put them on anything other than a stock car that you will have issues. My offroad pipe beat the hell out of those things. They claim that O/R pipes shouldnt make a difference but i don't buy it.

I appreciate it guys. This wasn't a problem before the JBA LT's and the Whipple. Maybe it is too much for the Flows. I'll figure something out. There is a great muffler shop here in Mustang, Ok. I'll see what they can do for me.
Is there still a problem with the baffles blowing out on newer flows? There were flows on my 08 when I bought it but were too quiet so I put Pypes muffler deletes on. Yesterday I put Pypes O/R X on and it was WAY TOO LOUD and honestly sounded like crap so I put the flows back on. Well long story short at 2-3k there is a terrible noise coming from the flows. I LOVE the Flowmaster deep tone but I'm not going to buy another set if there is still a problem with them.

I've got a rattle in my '05 as well, when it's lugging a little in lower rpms. I just put on Pypes Bomb axle back, and I've run the Flowmaster system as well, and both of them make the EXACT same sound, so it's not the mufflers. I think there is a bolt or something loose at the back of the car, but I have no **** clue what or where it could be.
My Flows were my first mod and the last year or so i've been getting a rattle/vibration at low rpm's, but its very specific. I know i've got rusted pieces inside and occasionally i'll find a few sitting inside the tips. They've lasted nearly 4 years, so i'm pretty happy about it. However, I also don't have any other exhaust mods so from what's been said thus far in this thread, that could be a factor in my A/T's staying intact for quite some time.
I can handle a little vibration/rattle so long as they just get a little louder.

I thought about trying the MBRP axle back mufflers, has anyone tried or heard these before?
