First time at the dragstrip since the 4.10s!!
Hey folks. I haven't posted up here in a while. I've been busy getting my 93 LX up and running well but have been aching to take my 2006 GT to the track. I thought I'd share my experience at the track two weekends ago at the Byron Dragway outside of Rockford, IL.
The first time I took my GT to the track was in November of 2008. My car had about 12K miles at the time. I had a JLT Intake, Bamachips tune, and an MGW shifter. Gears were the stock 3.55s.
I got six or so runs in and had a best of 13.52 @ 105.4 with a best 60' time of 2.15. Clearly traction was an issue then but I was pleased with the times otherwise.
Since then, I had 4.10s installed. I love the responsiveness around town but wasn't sure how they would perform at the track. I knew I'd have to shift to 4th unlike the first time when I was able to stay in 3rd through the finish. I also replaced my JLT with a factory 2008 Bullitt cold air intake (I like the OEM look) and a new Bama 93 octane tune. Everything else is the same and the car now has 25K miles.
The best I could manage was a 13.45 @ 105.8 after 10 runs. The 60' times were much better. I had a couple of 2.01's. I think I could have improved that as my tires were sticking well that day.
It seems to me that my mild improvement in times was completely due to the better launch and traction. The gears didn't seem to impact the MPH. I know the Bullitt intake may make a few less horse than the JLT but I didn't think the difference would be material.
What are your thoughts? Do my times seem reasonable and appropriate for my car?

Those times don't seem to bad. I've been to Byron and couldn't hook up if my life depended on it. Next time I go I'll have some dr's. Btw my avatar was taken @ Byron.

OP,
Your times aren't too bad.
It's definitely your 60' that is killing you.
You should be be in the 1.79-1.80 range with good tires and that will get you down into the low 13s/high 12s which is definitely nothing to shake a stick at!
What RPM are you launching at?

I'm not bummed about the times at all. I was just curious if people were seeing improved times with 4.10s or not.
As far as launching, I was just exciting that I was getting traction at all compared to the last time I went. I don't really recall what RPM I was at, I increased it each time since I was sticking. I basically slipped the clutch out aggressively, didn't dump it. If I had more time, I would have gotten more aggressive and maybe could have seen sub 2.0 times. My tires are OEM takeoffs from a GT500, F1 Supercar 285/40/18s.
