don_w needs your help (San Diego Fires)

Here is the link to the thread on another forum.
http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2629

don_w a member here on TMS and his wife Donna lost their home today in the San Diego fires.
They escaped with only the clothes on their backs, a few family photos and the cars.

Ed msgt46270 has set aside his Paypal account to accept donations for them.

Here is the direct quote

"I just saw Don's house on channel 9 and it's gone. Two story house down to nothing. I have it recorded on my DVR.

I would like to start a collection for Don and Donna and anything will help them out. If you would like to give, paypal me at msgt46270@aol.com. I swear every penny will go to them. I also cleared the money I had in paypal, so anything that comes in will be Don's and Donna.

Thanks

Ed"

I hope others will step up and donate for someone who has has given so much of his time to the Mustang community.

Don and Donna our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

We wish you all the best.

Peter

Sorry to hear that DonW. I had a few exhaust questions when I was adding to my mods a while back and he was very helpful responding to my pm's. Hope you get back on your feet.

Thank you for the donation. I did get it through paypal.

It really nice to see two different forums come to the need of the other. Speaking for S197, we would be glad to return the favor, but let hope it doesn't come to that this way. We are here for you also.

Thanks everyone

I just want to thank everyone for your kind words, prayer and donations. Donna and I are doing OK, all things considered, but all we got away with was two cars, plus a few family photos, and the clothes we were wearing. Our neighbor woke us up at 5:15 Monday morning banging on the door. The fire was on the hill behind our house. Within a few minutes, it was only a 100 feet away or so. We grabbed what we could and left. We ran into some major traffic, so we doubled back trying to find another way out. As we drove past the house again (around 6:00am), the fire was already on the houses on both sides of us. That was my last view of my house.

As some of you may know, a local news channel had a camera at our house while it burned. My son has it on his DVR and we've watched it, but we haven’t been able to download it yet. But my friend Ed (msgt46270) captured about 1-1/2 minute of it with his camera right off the TV. It’s not the whole TV coverage by any means… it’s just the tail end of it… but it gives you an idea. It’s pretty dramatic. He posted it here: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/3...d001655d08.htm. Also, the reporter said that the fire dept had saved the house once, while the two houses on both sides of us burned. Since they had it saved, they left the area. But something apparently flared up and they couldn’t get there in time to save it a second time.

Again... thanks to everyone! We really appreciate it.

Just want to give you an update. So far donations collected through Paypal has come to a total of $5073.29 as of 24 Oct 07 11:40pm. There are donations still coming via mail, vendor donations, and people still sending donations to my paypal. You can still donate if you like through paypal - msgt46270@aol.com.

If you didn't see the video of Don's house on fire here it is (it was on the news) http://videos.streetfire.net/video/3...d001655d08.htm

I have updated post #23 the best I could with the names and screen names who gave. http://s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2629

Thanks to all of you that donated and supported Don and Donna.

Being somewhat of a noob around here, I've never had occasion to talk to Don, but I know he's held in high regard around here. And that's good enough for me. $$ sent. I'm glad they had a watchful neighbor and were able to escape unharmed.

Here's a video showing Donna on the new after they were allowed to go back to their home. Don was there, but didn't want to be on camera.

Ed, thanks for the Video. Helps put things into perspective. I hope the rest of the people effected by this tragety have friends and family to help out as well. It's nice to know that the Mustang community takes care of their own. There truly is some good left in the world.
