i know im no computer wize but this ex2 software is a pain to install.i cant get the computer to reconize the tuner for love or money.ive done looked at how to videoes til im blue in the face, read differant users posts, and still cant get this mess to work.it should be a lot easier than this.all i want to do is change the shifting in the transmission but im lost.those of you with the predetor is it any easier to use than this ex2?i cant even get tunes from other tuners cause this mess want hook up to my computer.so,is the predetor as bad or is it easier to use or what.if only they would make it for a mac!

Funny you should ask. I have had both tuners. Started with the Dialbo Predator and ran the C&L 93 octane tune for about 4 months. Very happy with the power and the Diablo's adjustability worked great. Also , had a great set of instructions. Never got rid of the throttle lag though. I have a auto trans and read so much good about Alternate Automotive tunes for the auto's and how great it was. So I jumped ship and sold the Predator and went with the XCAL-2 from Alternate Auto in November. I am very happy with the tune. Totally got rid of any throttle lag and more. But, the instructions su%@k and it seems that some of the user adjustability things don't work as advertized. I never had any troulble downloading anything to the Pedator and have not tried it with the XCAL-2 yet. The best thing for me would be for Lidio at Alternate Auto to go with Dialbo. Can't seem to get the best of both worlds.

Everything I hear about Doug's tune is great. I am sure you will not need to modify his tune any at all. But, if you change rear gears or want to turn off your TCS will that work as SCT says for the end user adjustability. That is the question??

Let me get this right since I have a Diablosport Predator.
You can't just plug in the X-CAL II into the car and go to the desired parameter and change it like you can with the Predator

That is if the tuner didn't lock you out of the tune.

That would suck since you'd need to lug around a laptop to the track with you.

the changes for shift firmness, down shifting and other changes have to be made with a lap top ,and since i cant get the lap top to reconize the tuner i cant change any of the transmissin parementers.

Why not try a desk top? Make sure you are using the correct com. port.
I am going to be in one heck of a fix if it will not communicate with my desk top as I have no lap top.

I am planning on a tune from Doug and the SCT 2 int the spring, I was under the impression I would only need a desktop to load and store different tunes...am I mistaken?
Also, once a tune is loaDED, can you modify timing or other things?

You might be able to do it using the Xtreme Tune software on your PC, then uplaod that .xtr file to the X2, and then flash the car. I haven't actually tried to change any of Doug's tunes (why would I?? ), but I have used Xtreme Tune to load new tunes I've received from Doug into the X2.
