Emissions testing northern VA.

I have hot rod cams, CAI, and need to pass inspection soon. Have high flow cats in the garage but don't want to put them on until I do the emissions test. Figured I would put stock airbox back on and run stock tune. Any problems with the cams? They plug into the OBD port so I need to run it for 60 miles after changing the tune back to stock.

Just take it how it is to get inspected, slip them a Benjamin, and it will pass.

Never had to get smog check as part of my inspection, so I have to ask, do you get some sort of additional sticker info?

I say this because it might be worth the trip to someplace where emissions inspections aren't required provided it allows you to pass with a standard inspection sticker.

I have a Magnaflow catted X on mine and it passes in Nashville, TN. Had to go down from a Bama race tune to mid level performance tune and had no problems getting passed. The only thing I worried about was that emblem welded to the X part of the pipe that says "off road use only". The inspection dude didn't say anything about it but he saw cats under there so I guess that's what they want to see along with not showing an o2 code. Put them on after going through emissions if it makes you feel better but I'll tell you when you put the HF cats on it it will wake up the sound a bunch but not make it as rowdy as an OR X or H. Hope this helps you.

The emissions test piece is required in Fairfax County. You can't register the car without it. From what I found out for 1996 and later they plug into OBD port and check for codes. They also do visual for cats. Nothing in the tailpipe though. Done every two years.
