E85 retuning?

Anyone tune for E85 fuel? Isent it like 98 octane so you could get more power by using it? What are you required to change in the engine for E85?

think its more like 130 octane or something ridiculous like that...with so much ethanol, I think there is possible issues with some rubber parts of the fuel system, and likely larger injectors required, as it takes nearly double the fuel flow for the same amount of air...

And while I'm at it

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E85#Com...gular_gasoline

Basically, E85 needs a higher compression ratio to achieve awesome. In a normally aspirated motor, this then precludes it from running anything less than E85, so E10 or lower is now verboten.

This is why flex vehicles get sucky mileage from E85: They are tuned to run gasoline. If they were tuned to run E85 only, they'd be the obvious choice for those who want mileage and/or emissions betterment. As it is, they're only a choice for those who feel guilty running on gasoline... in which case, a Prius is probably a better idea, frankly, because they're otherwise SUCKING UP EXTRA RESOURCES TO FEEL BETTER.

But that's for a whole other thread.

In any event, just by the one statement of the OP... I don't think it's a grand idea. Don't do it.
