Right now, today, my car is getting 4.10 gears installed at a Mustang shop that does dyno tuning. After talking to him about tuning options, my bill would be ~$900 for an SCT Tuner, C&L Racer intake, and a custom dyno tune for 87 and 93 octane.

Bamachips is $625 and tons of people have great things to say about those tunes.

Is it worth $275 to go with the custom dyno tune?
Did I notice the knock...no it felt stronger than stock when I put the Bamachips tune in with the C&L and xCal2...and Doug;s tune are great tunes, but it's still a "canned" tune, because environmental conditions and specific differences in engines "happen". I would spend the extra $275, and assuming you have stock exhaust manifolds and cats, I would also request that the tuner leave the 02 sensors on, which will give you no "not ready's" whan you go get emissions inspection done...I would also have himn leave the rev limiter at OEM level of 6250...that way i there is EVER a warranty issue, you can honestly say the rev limiter wasn't messed with...because even though you return your car to stock in 45 mins...they can tell the PCM was "accessed".

Do the dyno-tune...you won't regret it (assuming the dyno tuner is experienced and credible...ask around, ask for references)

I agree. That's my plan once I change my d/s. Dyno tune will squeeze about 7-9 extra horses over the canned tune (which has to be safesided because the tuner doesn't have the vehicle there to tune). My tuner is goign to charge $330 for two hours on the drums.

That should be plenty...I think it only took 45 mins (2 runs) to get mine done...well maybe an hour with the strapping down, etc. Get some buddies there with you in case you have enough time left over for them to do a couple of runs!
