Wouldnt that be every stock GT? Is that for any 1/4 runs or for a certian place? New to all this
It can vary by track. My local 1/8-mi track wants them installed for 8.60 and quicker (~13.30s in the 1/4). NHRA tracks would likely go by the NHRA rule book.

isn't IHRA different than NHRA

Depends on the track which rules they follow? Man I should get an IHRA rulebook.

Anyone see the Mythbuster episode where they tried to flip a car by breaking the driveshaft? The driveshaft crumbled and shot thru the trunk.
nhra probably wants to save the track from undue wear in addition to saving you from a big hole in your trunk

13.99 and quicker, loops are required, if Im not mistaken.

Some companies look to make thier millions with loops...lol, I can believe the price ranges. Sure craftmanship comes into play, but not that much

ford Racing it is...
local nhra track: 13.99 require approved helmet; 12.99 require loops

at any rate, to get the FRPP's installed will run over $100 in labor, or $500 in frustration if you decide to do it yourself.

What difficulty did you have installing the loops Calvin?

installing driveshaft loops isn't rocket science. Anybody with jack stands can do it themselves.

The sucky thing about the FRPP loops is that you have to unbolt the seats and take them out, maybe the center console too. Then you have to pull the carpet back. Mock up the loops and mark the holes, then drill them. The 2 person part comes when you install the loops, you need a second person to hold the nuts inside the car for the bolts you tighten underneath. Then when you're all done, you'll be lucky if your clearances are good and didn't make any mistakes. I can easily see this being a 2 hour job minimum. FRPP has the instructions posted how to install it on their site.

I think it's worth shelling out the extra $100 for Metco loops. Especially for someone that isn't mechanically inclined. Easy stuff like this good to learn working on your car and giving you confidence to do more complicated things.

BTW...Who the heck is charging 100+ plus to install the loops, thats highway robbery!

I haven't installed loops yet. but taking out the seats, console, pulling the carpet, drilling holes, etc, etc. Not real complicated stuff, just a pain in the butt if for only another $100 the job can be done in 15 minutes. If the car is modded out to run 12's, the extra $100 shouldn't be a problem. (I exaggerated my personal time cost a little high at about $250/hr). I personally know people that would do way more to save far less, but I'd much rather pay $100 for the simpler install.

Looks like I will be only making one 12 sec. run if the next ones are going to cost that much. The thrill of breaking into the 12s would put a big smile on this old mans face. I have not done this in a very long time.
Perhaps this is enough!
Do they keep a week to week record of what you ran?

I believe the rule reads 12.99 and quicker with slicks. If you don't run slicks you don't need the loops. I got them because my 60's were going into the 1.5's Better safe than sorry. Oh, and DOT drag tires aren't considered slicks.
Are M/T ET streets biasplys considered slicks? I don't think so. Sounds like I'm in the clear. Woo hoo Speed of Sound gauge pod here we come!

STATE OF THE ART CONSTRUCTION

I'm ready to buy a set of Metco driveshaft loops, and the best price I have found online is $189.95 at JPC Racing and at Mustangs Unlimited.

Has anyone seen a better deal?

Thanks Paul... but right now, the Metco's seem like the best bang for the buck. I'm still looking to see if I can beat the $190 price.

I was reading somewhere that said the metco loops could only be used with metco LCAs. Am I crazy or is that true?
