Door Mirror Removal

Can anyone tell me the best way to remove the driver's side(LH) outside door mirror? I'm sure it's straightforward but I thought i'd ask first before doing something wrong or messing it up, thanks

I found this post when I considered painting my side view mirrors. It should do the trick for ya.

it's very easy, the cover on the inside just pulls off with just a little pulling on it, there is a couple of clips holding it on,but it's still straight forward, next there will be three or four nuts you'll have to remove, also disconect the eletric conector for the mirror, then it will just come off. I did this just a couple of weeks ago, mirrors are being painted at the same time as a few other parts.

Cheers guys, I scraped the plastic today which is annoying, all that needs replacing is the is the plastic cover but it looks like they only sell the whole mirror as one piece, altenatively can this type of plastic be repaired in any way? If not who do you recommend to get this part from? Mustangs Unlimited are sold out of the Ford replacement

Installing Agent 47 Retro Mirrors.

The taking appart part Should do the trick. The Agent 47 mirrors are nice to, why not replace the god awfull truck mirrors that Ford found in their parts bin (together with the antenna).

Cheers, I agree those factory mirrors aren't the nicest there's ever been but i'd still rather just replace it rather than swap both sides, anyone know any other companies that sell the factory replacement? Thanks

Try here: Team Ford parts
http://www.teamfordparts.com/partloc...layCatalogid=0

I've never ordered from them yet, but prices seem pretty good.

Another idea, why not take the oportunity to paint the mirror housings in the colour of the car. If You do that You can fix the scrapings with some filler and sanding before painting. Then there should be no way to tell that they were scraped in the first place.
