Unhappy

Hi,
I posted this in the performance section, but only got a couple of replies, so i thought I'd try here?
I have a JLT 1 with the mod, that I bought used at the end of last season. It came with a tune for my Predator, and I installed it and adjusted my fuel trims.
When I blip the throttle to downshift, there is a very noticeable delay in the throttle response that drives me nuts!
I removed the pipe and went back to the 91 tune and stock box for the winter, and it drives so much better that I’m reluctant to put the JLT back on?
If you have my setup, do you have this delay in throttle response?
Thanks,
Paul

PS. I posted a similar question last year, but never really got a definitive answer.

Paul,
It is the tune that rids your car of the lag not the cold air intake. I have the C&L intake. When I was running with the Predator I had throttle lag. I changed to SCT2 from Lidio of Alternate Automotive. His tune totally got rid of any throttle lag.

Yes, it's the tune. THe tune tells the car what to do, not the intake. That just flows air.
Go back to who ever made your tune and get it straight or get Doug or Brent to make to a SCT tune.

I have a JLT II with a manual.

Besides getting an SCT tune from Bamachips, here's one other trick you can try that will cost you nothing:

Turn your headlights on and disconnect the battery's negative terminal. If you're quick, you shouldn't get too many sparks, but don't be alarmed if you do. Wrap the terminal in towel so there is no chance of metal to metal contact. Then occupy yourself for awhile, like install your JLT or something. Reconnect the battery, (the horn may give a little toot), turn off the lights, start 'er up. Reloading the tune is optional, probably not necessary, tho. The computer should be a clean slate to relearn fuel trims and throttle response. It might be a little shaky at first, but it will smooth out after a few hundred miles. If you really want to be **** about it, you can follow the full directions in the owners manual to reset the trim (warm up to operating temperature, turn on the A/C, etc.). Drive it hard when you can the first 50 miles. Seems the harder you drive it, the snappier the throttle stays.

Some people may say "Bunk! You don't need to disconnect the battery." I had a slow throttle, especially in 4th and 5th, and wasn't sure my tune was working right. I eventually stumbled on to the Headlights on method when disconnecting the battery and for me, that did the trick. I was already pleased with the tunes as is, but after the headlights/battery method, I was blown away. It still pulls hard in 4th and 5th.

I have the JLT I and have run two different 93 octane tunes - DTP and Bamachips. Throttle lag is minimal with both. You'd have to beat me with a sack of nickels to put that stock air box back on. As has been said, it's your tune. Most are having much better luck with SCT.

Brent has different tunes for all three JLT intakes.....reason I know is that I've had them all. I'm on the JLTII(most recent one) and I love the response and that's with either the 87 or 93 octane DTP Racing tunes for my predator. Give Brent an email and I'm sure he'll be more than happy to help.

My throttle response is fine with the Bamachips tunes, but I also do the gas pedal re-calibration every time I switch tunes. I've noticed a slight difference if I don't.

Here's the proceedure:

- Turn on your key, wait for the lights to go out (on the dash)

- Press you throttle all the way down, just do it at a normal speed, dont stomp it, but dont baby it.

- Let it up, as soon as you touch bottom

- Turn off your ignition. crank it up and drive
