Do 3.73's actually make 1st gear useless?
Do 3.73's actually make 1st gear useless?
Right now I have 3.31's in my '07 GT, but I'm considering going with 3.73's. I've read a lot about how it almost makes first gear useless. How true is that and how much do you really have to change your driving style? Also, for people that have tried both, do the 3.73's make the car feel easier or more difficult to drive? If that part makes sense, haha.
Thanks for the responses guys. One other question, on the American Muscle website, there are options to also buy a $90 installation and bearing kit or just an installation kit for $35 along with the 3.73's. Are either of these items needed if I'm just going to have the gears installed at a shop? My car has about 55,000 miles on it if that makes any difference.

I have 3.73 gears and I find myself increasingly taking off in second gear, so yeah, I'd say first is pretty much useless in normal driving. It's a 2012 gt with a six speed so other people's experience with a five speed may be different.
