My DTP tune with a JLT CAI runs like a mad man. And it was done over the internet. In fact I broke the tires lose while shifting to 2nd tonight, not just a chirp but a complete wheel spin and had to let off the gas to let it catch. I had my wife with me and I think i scared her.

for what its worth. do you have your tune in an .xrt file that you can modify with exteme tune software? if so load it up on your computer, take 1 or 2 degrees of timing out in all ranges that ping and add some fuel just to be safe. download to the X2 and flash your car. I recomend that you disconecrt the battery for 20 minutes to clear all the codes before you ever start it with the new tune. do the retraining of the computer like in the owners manual. then see how it goes. I had a pinging problem and this is what I did untill I found out it was the Amoco gas I was using, switched to shell v-power and and no more pinging withe all the timing back in. Cheep gas is the leading cause of pinging, but you can tune to use it.

To me there are a few grey areas here. 1) to bring your car to temperature you would be idling for at least 10 minutes already 2) put your a/c on, what setting? Then drive car, do you leave the a/c on or shut it off? Now do you drive the car hard or normal if you want the good performance level?
usually my car is warm before I disconnect the battery, but if it is cold start and wait untill the temp is in the normal range (idle speed only). then let idle for 1 minute. Then turn on a/c. Max air, high fan, doors shut. Idle for 1 minute. then drive with or without a/c. what ever you normally do. The computer is learning your driving habits and adjusting to them. this is not all your computer will learn, it is always an ongoing process. It will adjust to your driving style. The proceedure is to relearn the Idle stratagy.
I'll just say that you shouldn't throw the SCT product under the bus.
The common thread here is that all your tunes are working poorly for you, while Stock appears OK. I'm not sure ~how~ a bad XCal2 would make tunes go in improperly, or if that's even possible. But you might want to swap the unit out (put your car to stock first!!! important!!!!).
I have the XCal2 and it does everything it's supposed to. My tunes go in fine, and I even used it to read and clear DTCs on my wifes Mercury Sable! (she had a check engine light on due to bad gasoline)
I love the product. I don't like their current software for modifying the tune, but I'd be hesitant to modify it without getting the wideband connections and working closely with a knowledgeable shop.
