It seems like when you talk about the SCT Xcalibrator you have some names to choose from who all have great reputations for doing custom tunes:

Brenspeed
Bamachips
Alternative Auto

Who does custom tunes for the Predator?

No Clue. But you should be able to go to the Predator website to locate their tuner/dealers in your area.

 

I looked into Runnin with the Devil, and looked at the Diablo site. I'm not opposed to using them, I was just wondering if there was someone with a "Reputation".

People can't rave enough about Doug at bamachips, or Brenspeed, or Lidio at alternative auto. I see nobody raving about custom tunes for Diablo on any of the boards.

 

Of the three, who has the best tunes ( greatest increase in RWHP) for a manual GT? Is one better than the other?

 

You'll probably get hundreds of opinions, which is natural and to be expected.

In my opinion, Doug at BamaChips can't be beat. After my experience with him and his tunes, he has my business for LIFE. Can't say enough good things about him & his tunes (I'd be typing all night). In one word = AWESOME

Maybe as a fair judgement, do a search from this forum over the past year on Bamachips and the others. See how many positive comments, praises, etc you see on each one, then make your choice/decision.

 

I can only comment on Doug/Bama but he is always responsive, and I am sure some of the questions, etc i have asked thru email were really dumb - but he always responds with a full answer

 

Lidio is a specialist in the Auto tranny over others from what I've read with SCT2. Whether he does Diablo Predator or not I don't know.

Bama and Brenspeed are excellent and offer canned tunes for multiple CAI's and I'm not sure they specialize in one tranny over another or one tuner over another.

Lidio does tunes on other CAI's with great sucess but is the expert on the C&L model.

This is all just from month's of reading before I bought mine. As you can see from my sig you know who I went with and was astonished with the results.

 

Brent at DTP Racing is who I recommend. He did my tune for the JLT (purchased tune with the CAI off JLT's website.) Very friendly, tweaked my tune since first one was giving too rich CEL, and was very fast. I'm very happy with the results. I'm not sure if he does tunes for other CAIs, but I'm sure you could ask him over at www.dtpracing.com

I highly recommend giving Brent at brenspeed.com a call. Brent is very knowledgeable and will always answer any questions. The very first time I called brenspeed, I spoke on the phone with him for at least 15 minutes just asking him a million questions about CAI's. You rarely get that level of customer service these days. I bought the C&L and X-Cal 2 setup from him and he gave me Brenspeed's custom 93 octane tune along with two other tunes, which really woke the Mustang up. He even emailed me another tune free of charge! I cant speak for Doug at Bamachips, or Brent at DTP racing.....I just know that you should give brenspeed.com a try. Great guy, great customer service. I've done several transactions with him and I will continue to do business through brenspeed.com.

Brent's 93 tune along with the C&L made my Mustang feel like a totally different car!! I think you will gain up to 30+ RWHP with that setup and his custom tune. Give it a try for yourself and see!!

 

Pardon me for breaking up the X2-tuner lovefest here guys, but I will anyway.

I had a Predator, and had similar questions... especially since I plan on adding a Saleen SC. Bottom line... I found no one who stood out as a premier tuner with the Predator, especially for a boosted application. So, I eventually switched to an SCT X2. Other than the SCT being a bit less user-friendly than the Predator, I have no complaints.

 

I too had a problem locating a Predator tuner so I started asking questions here on these forums. Blazing Saddles ( George) came to my rescue and pointed me in the right direction. I started doing my own tuning with a JLT pipe. I would make changes record the information, run it and data log. Then do it again. I did have loads of time as I am retired. If I can do it anyone can do it cause I do not know Dip A Do about computers however I do know a lot about hot rodding 60 era cars.
Send me an E after you purchase the stuff and I help you for free. My car went from not lighting up the tires to burning them up if I keep my foot in it. I have not had the opportunity to time it but my guess would be high 13s.
The only tune I have done is with the JLT pipe and predator and that is all I can help you with.

Let me clarify, this topic is for custom tuning for DIABLOSPORT PREDATOR.

what I hear about Brenspeed is great and people seem to really trust him, but I believe he is SCT xcalibrator only (dunno for sure).

 

Brent at DTP is a good guy and is from my home town, he gets my vote!

 

Just wanted to add to the discussion...

Apparently there is a ton of power (ft/bs actually) to be found in the Variable Cam Timing controls, so says my Diablo tuner. I dont want to list specifics yet because I'd rather share my first hand experience over something I've just heard.

If I can find the time before the 21st (my next drag day) I'll definitely get the custom tune I desperately need.

This tuner of mine is also one of those shops that are the trailbrazers in this performance world, they work very closely with Diablo Sport.

Brent at DTP racing did my custom tune. I have tha Mac cai. My car runs great, huge difference. I would recommend him for Diablo custom tuning you won't be disappointed.

RWTD: 125$ if you are a new customer and did not buy predator from them

DTP racing: can you let us know the cost?

RPMoutlet: George said it was free if you buy predator from them, unknown cost beyond that.

I have the SCT Xcal 2 from brenspeed for my mustang and love it.
My brother-in-law has a 2004 lightning with the predator and he asked me to research getting a custom tune for him. I was referred by LFP performance to Speed Dreams and spoke with Ryan over there. He was very helpfull and knew his stuff. He did a couple custom tunes for me based on what I wanted and just loaded one last night in the truck and it performs better than the stock diablo tune. Going to the track tonight with my brother-in-law, so will see how much better it will do on the track. Ryan asked me if I had air/fuel ratio's and altitute of where I am, which I didn't, but if so he could have tweaked the tune even more specific for the vehicle. Give them a call if your looking for a custom predator tune, he charged me $75 for the tunes for the lightning, not sure what the regular rate is or if vehicle makes a difference, but check them out.
