D&D.... Driveshaft and Dyno!

Well, about a year ago I bought a Granatelli CAI and about 5 months later i bought an XCAL2 with some tunes from Tillman Speed. The results were impressive. Or so I thought...

Today I had some work done to the car at Tillman Speed (I was in the area due to business travel). On the docket was an aluminum driveshaft and a dyno tune, to make sure the car's parameters were drilled down properly. Well after they driveshaft was installed and they put it on the dyno and flashed it to a generic 93 race tune, the results were surprising. I figured the air-fuel ratio was going to be close and at most I was going to see a 5hp difference (one of the techs pointed out that the driveshaft wouldn't make a difference on the dyno). A/F at WOT was about 12.8 where it was supposed to be, but power SUCKED at a pathetic 273 rwHP (compensated for atmospheric conditions). Now CR told me that stock dyno's at about 255 (from experience). They went to work (by the way...these guys at Tillman know their ****) and by the end of the session they got the numbers drilled in, very consistently at that. The numeric results: 289.86HP and 311.21 ft-lbs. The results that actually matter...well let me put it this way, in 1st gear at 30 mph if I slam the gas I can break the tires loose. If I shift too hard into 2nd I can sustain the wheelspin. The acceleration is rediculous. I really can't explain it in words. That driveshaft does let the engine rev up in about half the time, just like they said it would. And gas milage on the trip back was pretty **** good at about 24-25 on the street race tune and about 25-26.5mpg on the performance tune. Totally worth the money Thanks again CR!

Well dude, they're moving into a new shop and still setting it up, have long way to go. They don't have a phone line hooked up or internet there yet (blame the phone company on that).

I reserve the right to blame whomever I please...Dude
Besides I was poking a little fun.

It is always hard to convey scarcasm on a forum...

Shaun,

Glad you're happy! I took care of our phone situation yesterday. Verizon has until Tuesday. If we don't have a dial-tone, then I told them we would be purchasing Comcast Digital Voice phone service. Let's see if that will stirr them around.

Glad to hear you like the tune. I gave CR a ride back to the shop a week ago after we tweeked my tune and planted him in the seat. If you still want the colored piping for the door let me know.

Tillman: I've worked for a call center that provides service for the competitor that you mentioned. A certain company with name that has two of the letter "C" in it. Not a good idea. That's all I'm going to say.

Drew, thanks again for the piping. I installed it this weekend. Its a shame I forgot my camera, so I had to use my cell phone for a pic but ****! For such a small mod, it makes a hell of a difference!

I'm not so sure on the red trim around the shifter, I might go with aluminum. I put some or the piping around the map light "overhead console", but I forgot to get it in the picture.

Thanks for the tip. We ended up getting shafted by Verizon until next week. Couldn't make the call to Comcast about the phone service... I've heard way too many bad things.
