I hate non-functional scoops so I cut a 3 inch hole in my hood yesterday to bring cold air into the engine compartment. Cut the hole at the back of the factory indent where you would put the shaker. Shaker looks to small and is too much $$$ so as many of you know I went with a Roush scoop and cut the hole. Going to fabricate a RAM air set-up if I can find parts to do so. Would like to get the pipe from CDC and fab a way to hook up to the hole when closed but I cannot get an email response from CDC???
Anyway now the scoop does not vibrate at all and at least I am getting some air to the engine to keep it cool. So anyone thinking about cutting the hole go ahead and do it, I don't regret it.

what did you use to cut the hood with and did you have any problems with the paint chiping.

Used a 3 inch hole saw and had no problem with chipping. Cut very easy since it is aluminum.

What about the exposed aluminum from the cut, did you protect it/seal it after the cut?

good thinkin!
and I was just thinkin about the pressure/volumn
I would almost think that there would be greater under hood force, and to small of an opening on the scoupe and that it would want to travel out, vs in. Or an equilization in the 2.
Im no scientist, just was thinkin...
