Creating the ultimate supercharger thread.
Fellow TMS addicts,
I am going to create a supercharger thread that is a one stop shop for people (like myself) who are trying to decide what supercharger to buy. In this thread I would like to include dyno sheets of different superchargers, installation experiences, drivability info, pictures, fitment measurements, etc. and I need your help! If you have dyno sheets, pics, measurements, install tips, documantation, web addresses etc. please post them here and I will compile the info into a new thread with side by side comparisons and such. I am hoping to make it easier for the next guy to just go to a one stop shop, supercharger-centric post and not have to dig for days.
kay......GO!

Saleen S/C with JDM Stage II upgrades running at 12psi. Aprox. $6400
Additional required components to run safely at 12psi GT500 twin fuel pump setup Aprox. $700.00
Also added GT500 Throttle Body. I used a die grinder and air file to reshape the inlet of the blower to accept the throttle body. JDM has a direct bolt on setup with no need for grinding for $400.00
I also installed the GI Joe 8 rib pulley setup for $649.00
I along with others of similar HP running manual transmissions and powershifting have problems bending and breaking tensioners.
This is not a problem exclusive to the Saleen blower. People running Whipples and Kenne Bells have them also.
I have put over 13,000 miles and 300 1/4 mile runs on this setup over the last 13 months with no problems. The drivability is perfect, it idles like stock and the blower doesn't make a peep till you go all out. It's the quietest blower I've ever heard.

Current:
Base Vortech kit here, non-'cooled!..... complete kit from Brenspeed for around ~$4800 which includes handheld tuner, delete plates, injectors, Kenne Bell BAP, and all misc. accessories needed. Kit pushes 8psi at 6200 rpm. Designed to take a stock car to ~425-450 rwhp and low 12 second time slips. No other parts needed. I've ran this since March even in the heat of 95 degree summers in Indiana with absolutely no problems.
Dyno:
![](http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g145/tsettle281/Mustang%20Stuff/100_7688.jpg)
Up next:
This week Brenspeed is installing a Paxton air-to-air intercooler and swapping the stock 3.8" Vortech pulley for a 3.33" pulley. Should push approximately 11-12psi at 6000rpm and net ~480 rwhp on a conservative tune. Also am testing the Tunable Induction intake while in the shop..... will see if it adds additional power or not. Will update with new numbers later this week, hopefully tomorrow night.

Here is my car with Vortech HO kit. I also have the GT500 dual pump kit and HTO plugs. The car made 10.2 psi with the 3.6" pulley.

Tom, I am interested to see your numbers. That's going to make a decent amount of boost if you rev it.

Not to sidestep the original questions but I think we also need to know what the maximum torque rating for the automatic and 5-speeds are. And can we speed shift the stick without concern of breakage?

I don't think anyone truly knows the limits of the stock trannies..... as far as speed shifting and/or power shifting, I've been doing that almost daily since March with no problems, on the stock clutch.

As for the rated torque of the TR-3650 it's 360 lbs-ft.
I've been powershifting mine since day 1 with no problems ( As I am knocking on wood)

A grippy clutch, slicks, powershifting and hard launches break transmissions. As long as you don't try to attempt John Force launches, the OEM trans should be reliable for a very long time.

I don't have a graph handy, but mysetup made 447hp and 405tq
The setup is a Whipple HO 10psi, 39# injectors (larger than what is supplied) and a custom tune. This is on an automatic transmission with 4.10 gears and a 3000 stall converter, and flowmaster mufflers. At the time it was dynoed, everything else on the car was stock.
Drivability is just fine, even with the converter. It looses traction pretty instantly when you hit WOT anywhere under 30-40mph or so, but normal driving doesn't get anywhere near even 1/2 throttle, so traction isn't really an issue for driving around. The gas pedal is a bit touchy, but you get used to that.
With the tune that was dynoed with those numbers, I believe I get around 16mpg driving around town, 23+ on the freeway at 70+mph.

I put down 523rwhp and 493rwtq on my D1SC. My mods are in my sig. I don't have any track times yet. I have been running my car like this since June 1st of this year and haven't broken it yet (knock on wood). Doug at Bamachips tuned it. Driveability is perfect, but she likes to spin the tires when you push her. I'm running an 8 rib setup so haven't had problems with belt slip.

Possible fitment issues with aftermarket hoods. Confirmed with Shelby CS6/GT-H hood.

![](http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r281/GPStang06/Gapcopy-1.jpg)
Alternator also made contact due to the Roush relocation. Modification needed.
![](http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r281/GPStang06/Hood1.jpg)
Summary:
Pros: Very clean looking unit in polished or un-polished model. Great power and torque for an everyday driver and good power for the occasional trip to the drag strip or the road course. 3/36000 mile factory warranty maintained as long as it is installed by a Roush/Ford professional. Has the classic Roots whine to it producing a sweet sound from the inside and out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkXJaFf28H0
Cons: Smallest unit on the market (1.4L I think). Little expandability in terms of increasing boost, HP, and torque. 400 to 420 RWHP is achievable without changeing internals through aftermarket pulley/tunes and CAI but will cost around $1K between the CAI, Tuner, and Tune. Cost of the unit is one of if not the most expensive on the market.
Overall: Possibly the best unit on the market for the brand new under warranty Mustangs that will serve as the everyday driver with occasional track visits. The price is higher but with the above application in mind you are paying a little extra for peice of mind keeping the factory warranty. If your intentions is to spend more time at the track and maximize your Stang then the Roush is not a good choice as you will max out its potential sooner then you may expect and find yourself thirsting for more power. If your car is near the end or out of warranty there isn't a lot of reason to look at the Roush.

Whipple has a very nice kit. Very detailed install instructions as well as a straight forward intall. This stock kit made 455rwhp in the pouring rain(humidity) with a very safe tune. I managed a 11.9 sec. 1/4 mile pass in completely full weight with the only exception being my bogart wheels and slicks. Stock front tires. We changed the pulley later on and have made a 11.8 pass with stock tires up front and DR's on stock wheels in back. Sounds great, pulls hard, and is a lot of fun!
