ContiExtremeContact Tires?

I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of these Continental tires. Anybody have experience (good or bad) with them? My sizes will have to fit a 17x9 wheel and I have chosen:

245/45-17 for the front
275/40-17 for the rear

These are all season tires (it is my daily driver) and I have to drive it during adverse weather here in Missouri...

Thanks for opinions or experiences...

I had three sets on my old Mustang (245/45/17). They were great in the rain/snow/ice, but I only averaged about 15K miles out of them. The dry traction is better than some, but I wouldnt use them at the track. IMO they are a great daily driver tire.

Michelin Pilot series are probably the best A/S sport tire, but cost some $$

Thanks for the replies....makes me go hmmmm...

Honestly, I had not considered the severity of height aspect until you just mentioned it. With the rear tires, I will be a reduction of -2.4" in height with those tires compared to stock. If I move up to 18" I will only lose .8" in the same size. I would prefer 18's but nobody offers the rims shown below in 18.

Now if I move up to a 275/50-17 I will get my height back (and then some =1") but not sure if anybody even makes that size...

It comes down to the rims I am looking for. they are 17x9 so I'm trying to work out something using that size.

You can use 255/45/17 up front, with 275/50/17 in back. Friend just put this combo (Nitto's) on his 05 GT 'Vert

They lasted about 20,000 miles on my SVT Focus.

It appears that Nitto is the only one who makes an all season UHP tire in this size. I read some reviews on it and they all said they were really noisy tires...that is the bad thing about reviews, there are always conflicting opinions.

I think I am still going to stick with the rims and just need to find the right tires that will work. Please post any recommendation about sizes / manufactures, but they must be all season and high speed rated.

I would also like to stick to a 17x9 wheel and the only thing I could find is Kumho Ecsta ASX and
BFG GForce T/A KDWS in 255/50/17, both are all season
high performance tires.

To get a 275/50/17, Nitto NT 450 and Falken Ziex are all
that is available in all season tread.

As far as the ratings for noise and ride the Kumho seems
to rate the best but I have no experience myself with them.

I quess its between the Kumho and the BFG for me.

Maybe someone has some input on these.

Or, they also carry them in black chrome. Sweet-looking, but maybe not what you're looking for. Afs wheels are good quality, too. I had the Cobras on my '02 and even now (friend owns the car) after 6 years, the finish is perfect.

I am running Nitto NT450 255/50-17 tires all the way around on 17X9 wheels. The tires are wearing very well, aren't noisey and stick pretty well too.

Thanks for the info and pics, looks like they might be a
good choice for Mach and myself.
