Clutch Problems

I have a new ('07) GT/CS 3,000mi. When i push the clutch in i hear a rubbing kind of noise. And you can feel it vibrating up through the gear shift. When i let the clutch out, every thing is normal ..HELP !!

Could be something with the throwout between engaging and disengaging. I would probably bring it back to ford since you don't seem to have any warranty-voiding mods.

Clutch is covered to 12,000 miles I think, however you should just ditch the stock clutch because it is junk and throw a Spec clutch in there and be happy.

What he said, SPEC is the way to go.

We stock the SPEC Stage 2+ and 3 kits, because they're the most popular. We can get just about any SPEC clutch, however.

LET ME KNOW!!!

Also with a spec clutch chances are you won't need another clutch for a long time...if ever. A 2+ will hold just about anything most people are planning on doing and a 3, which is what I have, is good for a little more and a 3+ is for some serious power. 2+ would be good for most.

Our site is being repopulated, and will be done before the end of the month.

www.specclutch.com

Go there, and whatever retail says we can usually cut between 13-16% off of that price. That's a pretty darn good deal. We'll price match, too.

I've got a Spec 3+ and Al flywheel, and it hooks. A little tougher to drive, a little bit of chatter, and a little more gear lash and noise, and overall just tougher to gauge the engagement point. Pedal pressure is about the same as stock.

Don't get me wrong, I like it. Hooks great, doesn't slip going into third like the stocker, but a little bit of comfort and daily drivability is lost.

See I've been listening for any chatter with my Spec 3 and haven't had any. I agree with you Hatchman on the engagement point though. It takes a little getting used to, but once you get used to it...it makes launching the car a lot of fun.

I stoped @ my local Ford dealer Friday, they are going to replace the whole clutch, bearings, pressure plate, clutch plate ...everthing. It still bums me out, only 3,000mi on the od.

Hell at 8k miles they replaced my entire transmission. The 3650 is crap as far as I'm concerned.

An update.. They put a new throw-out bearing in. Now my clutch is really different. It use to engage about 2"1/2" from the floor. now it's about an 1" and it's a heck of a lot easier to push the pedal in. Does 1" sound about right?

1" off the floor before the clutch starts to engage sounds about right.

For my clutch, the pedal has to be almost at the top of the travel before the clutch really engages the flywheel enough so that the car can actually move.

According to the FSM, 1" or more of clutch pedal reserve is ACCEPTABLE and I've attached the measurement instructions.
