Lots of people use BAPs. I used one for a year..... however they, like alot of aftermarket parts, can fail whereas the GT500 system offers OEM reliability.

Even OEM stuff prematurely fails.. guess we're all rolling the dice!

Alrighty, after doing a bit more research, I've found that superchargersonline.com also carries the stage II kit. Here's the catch, you have to call up and ask for it. Not really a big deal considering it retails for $56xx and they've got it listed for $48xx + $100 to ship. And, you can get HTO spark plugs for $80 with free shipping if you get it all together. Now that's what I call a good deal. That's what I'm eyeballing now.

+1... Gt500 pumps are cheaper than a new engine...

Curious, does anyone have any hard data (forum posts, articles, etc.) of the BAP failing?

+1. Also, I've seen then made by Kenne Bell, MSD and others. Are some BAPs better than others?

I can say that in one-on-one talks with Brent and Dave at Brenspeed, they have installed hundreds of KB BAPs and have only had a handful fail. No catastropic engine failures, however I do agree that engine damage could easily occur from running out or low on fuel pressure.

But, it could also occur on bad gas, high heat, premature detonation, too much boost, blah blah blah. You're pretty much gambling on several key aspects when you decide to get blown.

I’ve read of BAP failures on ModularFords. Like I said before, for the extra 200-300 dollars I went with the GT500 pump. It allows room to grow (600+whp), comes with an extra FPDM, and is an OEM drop in application. FP duty cycle will be lower as well. It was a no brainer to me.

I read somewhere that using the GT500 fuel pump in a GT would overload the electrical circuit and blow your fog light fuse.

Anyone else hear of that?

Yes, but that's only when it's installed a certain way, I believe per some manufacturer's instructions. Where as most people (like Brenspeed) run the power wire right up to the battery.

I will agree that the GT500 system is a better route but will argue that 95% of people with blowers can run a KB BAP and be just fine.

So there's a right way and a wrong way, and Brenspeed, I take it, does it right?

I think my upgrade price would've been significantly larger than that. For $200, I would've considered it.

I'll just stick with my KB BAP.

Well I've had the GT500 pumps for about a month now, and have logged PLENTY of WOT romps and no blown fuses here. When time permits, search the forums, I believe there was a thread about this issue just a couple of weeks ago.

I've never had an issues with blown fuses with my GT500 pump kit. I do need to pull mine because one of the tubes I believe had come undone. I ran out of gas the other day at work with 1/4 tank of gas left.
