Centrifugal Supercharger questions

I'm planning on getting a centrifugal supercharger for my mustang. I'm trying to decide between the three big companies and I'm getting no where. So, which one to buy and where to buy it? I'd like to get the satin trim, whichever I go with because I'm not into to much shinyness. I've got a very much stock engine so I'd be slightly put off by the idea to get over 500 horses.

Had a Vortech V2 base kit, then added a Paxton intercooler. If I was to do it over again, I would have went with a Paxton 2200. The Paxton is a bigger blower than the Vortech.... and I believe it is a more reliable piece than the Procharger although the Procharger can be pullied to make much more power- but the Paxton will still make TONS of power. Even my previous Vortech V2 with a 3.33 pulley made 469 rwhp.

Is there a reason for not getting a twin screw? The centri's are better on the top end but the twin screws seem to make more power all the way up to redline, but make a little less max hp.

I personally want a polished Whipple. Reality is that it won't make my car the "fastest". The issue is usability of the vehicle once you undergo serious modification. I use my car as a DD so I know the Novi 2200 is probably the best option. I have a couple friends with that setup and they are wicked fast and can pull like a freight train forever. I just can't get past the roots type blower being "nostalgic". I bought the S197 to be nostalgic and I guess I'm going to continue the theme even if the car isn't "as fast". I'm sure smoking the tires all day is fun too.

I went with the Vortech HO system cause I got a good deal on one from a local performance shop and he's familar with the system and install. Service was important in my decision. But I was also looking at the Paxton 2200. I think either one will do good for the power your after.

Its really about what kinda package price you can get on the supercharger

Even running nothing more than just an over axle exhaust with 285/40/18's at all 4 corners, I lose traction frequently. I've just decided for the price and the power at mid-high RPMs that the centri does the best job.

Also, anyone know if superchargersonline.com is a reputable company to buy from? A local custom shop is going to do my install, along with long tube headers, and a tune for my car, so I'm mainly looking for best bottom line price on the system I can get.

Anyone care to PM me the best price they have heard of for the Vortech?

PS- It really all depends on your goals. If you are looking to run the blower on a stock motor the any of the choices would be more than enough for that- However if you definitely want to build the motor and build a serious machine I really like the 2200 because it has so much potential to tap into.

Paxton 2200- better intercooler, capable of more power, and has two bypass valves which give it a really cool sound.

I have the Novi 2200 H/O with Intercooler. Quite and powerful. It's a good value and Paxton has a history with Shelby back in '67 (I think?). I went conservative (9 psi boost). I have 442 HP at the wheels through an automatic trans. We could get much more out of it...but its more than I need right now.

Value is important to me as well. I've been window shopping for months and I'm still having trouble making up my mind. If money were no object, it would be Saleen. But I can't justify an extra $1500.00 for a supercharger.

Right now I'm targeting the Vortech. It's affordable and will give me what I want.

That's the kit !

I take it that it will be on the "how to" list; can't wait for the write up!
