I know that most intakes or cold air intakes on the market are CARB exempt and street legal in California but with the "hydracarbon trap" thing stuck in the stock intake, removing it may be considered tinkering with the cars stock emissions equipment. I'm not sure if that thing is considered smog equipment or what. Anyone found any info regarding the legality of removing it (in California)?
Thanks in advance for any info.

Bill, I don't know if the stock intake needs to be re-installed or not, but they prolly will check for the hydro carbon trap on the visual inspection, so I know I'll replace it temporarily. Since I am installing that, I'll go ahead and re-install the intake just to be safe. Only takes a few minutes more. Seems like if the car doesn't look tampered with, they spend less time on the visual inspection. I just had a truck inspected with no mods and had my certificate in ten minutes.
