Talking Cams installed!!! Video inside!!

Ok they are crower cams 480 lift, my mods are MMR intake, 410 gears, pullies, bassani axle back, prochamber off road, sct 93 octane tune by Quintin Brothers on dyno... before cams 289.89hp 304.55tq with cams 306.99hp 314.69tq also had the gears installed on the 306 pull and it was muggy as hell, kinda disappointed was hoping for 320 to the wheels. They told me with the gears ill lose 8-10 rwhp on the dyno is that true?? when i get a chance ill post the sheet..

i love it, everybody will finally realize that there arent such huge gains unless coupled with all the right stuff like a good tune.

I think that Dan was illustrating the point that one needs the proper combo of parts and tuning to make good HP #s, not raining on his parade.

As for me I dynoed my car yesterday, (got 277rwhp last July) added a JLT with a tune from one of the best SCT tuners out there and my car made 276rwhp. This new 10% Ethanol gas is killing performance. The car feels a lot meaner though! I wish that I had dynoed before the JLT install to see what my stock numbers were with this gas.

fastrek82: Congrats on the cams and sorry to high jack your thread. But as I witnessed yesterday there is a good possiblilty that your car makes the power you are shooting for, it's just this crappy gas that is screwing you over. Congrats again!

This is all that should really matter. Don't get stuck in the 'numbers' game, otherwise you'll spend all your money in persuit for that ever elusive HP number or that 1/4 mile ET.

Just my measley $.02.

How do you know he doesn't have "the right stuff" nor a good tune? He is the first person that I've seen to dyno cams in the 3V, hence why the results might have not been what everyone expected.

so basically he got about 17rwhp. That's not too bad, is it? I don't know much about cams but are these considered aggressive? Anyhow, every bit helps.

well put it this way, Comp Cams advertised theirs @ 30-40hp and its supposed to work WITH VCT. Again, coupled with the right tune and headwork and you've got a winner but nothing as huge as BBR once posted.

well, it does miss the projected gains, but then he's the first guy to dyno these. Hopefully with the right combo we'll see better results.

Weren't they claiming like 100rwhp or something crazy like that? I MIGHT see that on all out race cams or something like that but nothing streetable.

These crowers arent that agressive, and the gains look expected to me. comp is saying 30 to 40 on their 300 and 350 grinds, which are way more aggressive than what he has.

The 5.0 Mustang mag a couple months ago had an article where they installed the Ford Drag pak option, dynoing after each part. When they installed the 4.11 gears, they did loose around 5-7 rwhp, if I remember correctly. So, the cams are probably worth more like 25 hp, which is closer to what I'd expect from a set of mild cams. I wouldn't be too disappointed in the gains. I'm sure the car sounds awsome. Congratulations!
