calling all with torque converters!

Is this part really necessary when installing a torque converter?

no but it is a good upgrade especialy if you get the one with the dipstick since the stock car does not come with one.

Agreed it is a good upgrade but not necessary.

+1. I did not change pans (or even add a bigger trans cooler) and I'm launching at 4,800 rpm's with my converter. I've changed the trans fluid a couple times since and it is always nice and bright pink (not dark or burned) so it appears that our factory trans is quite stout.

I agree Brian. Since installing my TC this past summer I have been beating on mine pretty hard with no issues. Sure is hard on tires though.

I'll say! Very easy to get rubber in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (with a hard chirp on the 3-4 upshift). I have a seperate set of wheels/tires for race days, but my daily driver factory tires (BFG KDWS's) only made it 21K miles. Just replaced them with wider/stickier tires last week.

When I purchased the torque converter i got it without the anti-ballooning plate because that is how the vendor sold it to me! How important is it and should i get it from somewhere?

Ok so this is mentioned in the product desrciption...(flexplate must be drilled for 7/16” bolts)
how safe is this when doing it your self or should i get an aftermarket flexplate that doesnt need drilling!
