CAI installation

I was under the hood taking a look at how hard it would be to do the CAI install. How do you unhook those lines from the valve cover to the factory intake tube, undo the green tabs?

Yeah Sam, just look closely at the green tabs and you will see how they are supposed to come off. Then just pull straight up and the line will pop right off.

ok i had this same problem, check it out feel under the connector and you will feel this little peice sticking out push that forward and it will unhook then you pull it out while you are pushing the tab, here are some pics of the tab, believe me it took me weeks to figure this out LOL

notice how the tab just pushes back:

here is a view of the tab from up front

Cold Air Intakes are pretty easy to install. Just disconnect the negative battery cable, undo the hose like RedDragon said, disconnect your MAF, undo the one 10mm bolt holding the box down, and then finally loosen the hose clamp at the throttle body and pull it out. Then use the manufacturer's directions for installation. The Granatelli intake took me about half an hour as i figured everything out but I can literally swap back to stock in a little under 5 min.

I agree that it is very easy, but I've never disconnected the battery.

Leaving the battery connected will probably not cause a problem, but it is generally good practice to do so. You have to disconnect the MAF, so disconnecting the battery is the right thing to do. It's no sweat taking off the battery ground lead. And, probably good insurance.

Having said all that, I did not disconnect the battery when I put in my CAI, and nothing bad happened. But, anyway...disconnect it just to play it safe.

took me 10 min to install the intake and 5-7 min to tune but after the first tune it only takes like 1-2 min to tune, i did not disconnect the battery, and even though the instructions, say to take out the fan and another fuse to tune it is not needed

Yeah, the install took me around 40 minutes. It's really not that bad compared to the headers I'm trying to install.

Just like most Aftermarket CAI, It's secured by the elbow onto the throttle body, and rests onto the heatsheild.

there's barely a few mm clearance when the hood is closed, so it aint going anywhere

Justin.. you do seem a bit tired
don't worry.. i didn't sell it.. was being a bit sarcastic in the comment there

p.s: i already used the stock airbox once a month back when i sent her in for warranty repair and had the throttle body replaced.

It's clamped to the TB and rests on the heat shield. No need to worry... it's not going anywhere. Actually, it's very secured...
