So I am about to order the CAI and X3 with 3 tunes. Is the X3 the way to go also? I have an auto so I will be using bama's (dougs) tunes. Is the X3 the best tuner or is the predator better..seems like they cant vary to much.

I guess I am just tossing and turning over the intake. Steeda, JLT, C&L. I thought I saw somewhere the Steeda with tune had a gain of 37hp at the rear.

Does anyone have actual data showing the hp gains from all of these?

Lastly. There is different versions of these. Like mentioned above with the C&L. If C&L do I get trueflow racer or street version?

I also see just the racer version with livewire. what the hell is that?

Sorry for all the questions about this. truly a virgin on this topic.

This is all I got for my suggestion: http://www.granatellimotorsports.com...yno27small.jpg

As for the others, you can search this forum and probably turn up some. I know I've seen some for the C&L and K&N CAI's.

I doubt you would see more than 30hp no matter what intake you choose. The JLT is the best bang for your buck, and is a solid piece. The JLT and the C&L are both within 1hp or so of each other on every test I've ever seen, and the JLT is a lot cheaper.

The X3 is probably a great tool, and SCT makes the most universally known tuners. All the tuners basically do the same thing, just different ways of getting the same results. From what I understand, the X3 is just an updated version of the X2. It does not provide better tunes, or any different tunes, just a fancier piece of equipment.

If your on a budget, I would see if you could still find an X2 from your tuner of choice. Might save you some coin.

IMO, NOTHING beats air moving in a straight line.

I think this CAI also looks cleaner than anything out there. I love mine, and felt a big difference in seat of the pants, not to mention the sound of the engine at load changed considerably as well.

I'm just beginning to look into a CAI+tune. I've seen people mention the phrase "i have an auto so i'll be using doug's tunes'. Are his known to be better than the others for auto transmissions?

Also, looking at the C+L intakes, the 'racer' version does appear to have a smaller filter than the 'street' version. And I've also noticed it seems to be lower priced. Is that because of the plastic vs. metal elbow? Will I get more performance out of the 'racer'?

Sorry for my lack of undrestanding here. I'm just getting started.

I ended up ordering the Steeda CAI and the X3 with Dougs tune ofcourse.

ITCMDROBVIOUS....Pretty much everyone I have heard talk about tunes, raves about dougs tunes at bamachips.

Ofcourse when I bought my CAI, the guys at Steeda, tried to get me to let them do the tuning (Its our product, we know it best). I told them I was going to Doug and they said " Doug's a good guy and all, but his tunes wont be as good as ours"...Ya right...

I don't know, I might go with Steeda, if only because they are right down the road and I can get it there if I have a problem. However, I have been looking at Brenspeed and Bamachips as well.
