 I plan on installing a C&L CAI system and a SCT 2 Tuner on my 06 GT auto. My questions are:

1. Will I create any problems installing a C&L CAI without a Tune. I plan on getting a SCT 2 later when I decide on gears and a couple of other mods.

2. When I do get a SCT 2 can I get a realiable program for my automatic without carrying it to a shop that does custom tunes. Or could I just order one from BamaChip or simular place and they can send me a unit preloaded that works just as good.

I am getting tired of the slow throttle response and the sluggish downshifting of the automatic.

You cannot run a C&L without a tune. If you go with a C&L you MUST get a tuner at the same time.

Hey Ron,

1.) 66 is right, I've heard of a guy running the C&L before the tune but it's not a good thing. On a dyno the C&L kit was making 16-17:1 a/f ratio without a tune, not a good thing at all.

2.) YES, I actually have my own 05 GT with an auto which I use to make all of my programs and automatic changes. I must say I love having my own car now because I can truly see what changes make great improvements. In short, BamaChips can make some great programs for your car with the C&L kit and most bolt on mods.

Thanks, Doug.

Doug,

Is BamaChips located in Birmingham or Mobile? I am located in Northwest Alabama and a trip to Birmingham is a lot shorter.

I'm track testing them today for us auto guys along with dyno testing tomorrow. If I unlock anything new you'll be the first to know

As for Northwest Alabma where are you located? You must be close because I'm in North Walker county, Jasper, right off highway 195. Just let me know as there aren't many 05' guys local.

Give me a call sometime 205-471-4597 is my business number. If you're close enough I can let you try out an X-2 before you buy and possibly even a C&L kit if I have one in stock when you do.

Thanks, Doug.

i ran the C%L with no ture for about a month. Had the check engine light on after about 20 miles. I didnt feel any performance loss yet i didnt feel any gain but the check engine light wasnt pretty. Once i tuned the CEL went away and the power of the C%L was let losoe. What a difference the tune makes. i would not recommend driving without it. +1 for Doug. Great guy, Great Tune fast shipping!!!!!

i also ran the C&L for about 2 weeks before i got the 06 tune from C&L...the one thing i noticed is that my fuel mileage was averaging 23.5 MPG...man was i a happy camper...(probably because without the tune it was running lean)..since i have had the tune it is averaging 17.3...not to bad i guess, but it sure felt good getting 300 miles on a tank of gas if only for a moment...lol

Yeah, you know that's a good thing, all you would have to do is never goto WOT? Maybe put a block under the pedal or something? J/K
