I am not real happy with my intake or tune.

I bought my intake as part of a "kit" that came with gears, pulleys...etc I couldn't beat it for the price. I plan to order a JLT CAI.

Now the question:

How many out there run JLT and who did the tuning?

I live in a VERY remote part of Texas (Waaaaay southern tip, as in 10 miles from us/mx border). Getting a tune for me would mean emailing dyno sheets to and from. I don't trust the "tuners" here. The nearest "reliable" place is San Antonio or Houston/Dallas, all of which are a minimum of over 3 hours 1-way driving time.

I dynoed 280 RWHP with the following:
JMS Chips CAI
JMS Chips Tune
Bassani Xpipe
Flowmaster 40 Mufflers
Cat Delete
Steeda Pulleys
4.10's (no difference in dyno right?)
LINK TO DYNOSHEET HERE

I have seen folks dyno more than that with just CAI and Tune.

I am convinced I have a very cruddy tune. I don't really trust JMS for the simple fact that while ordering the SCT II device, (I originally had an SCT I as part of my "kit", bought it way back in Jan of last year), they didn't even ask what mods I had. I had to tell them "Um, don't you need to know what my car has?". Even then, when I got the tuner, it was set up for regular stock gearing which tells me that they probably gave me an "off the shelf" tune.

I hear alot about Bamachips and Brenspeed. I also was contacted by Evolution Performance about his tunes. (He actually took the time to IM me and call me up). What are everyone's opinions and experiences/hp gains?

Thanks,

-N

I am running a Brenspeed 93 octane tune with a C&L CAI. It is awesome, it was like night and day when I first installed it back in August. Brent has great customer service and will always answer your questions no matter what. Great guy. I couldnt be happier!

Good luck with whoever you choose!

Doug At BamaChips. I had a custom tune from a good tuner here in Houston, but the Bama tune from Doug was even better. I'm runnin' about 290 RWHP with the 93 Performance tune and can get a good tire chirp on the second to third gear change with my Automagic tune. Low end torque is also great and pedal delay is gone.

Man, your website "Nino's Joint" is hilarious, the kickdog phone prank is great. I just had to tell you I downloaded it to let some of my friends hear. BTW you are going to put yourself in the emergency room eating like that for more than 6 months.

I personally like the C&L system of all CAI and I would suggest Ken Bjonnes from Modular Depot, just pick up a copy of 5.0, Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords, or Racepages and you will see how successful he is at tuning 05's with ANY induction, he can even do a "virtual dyno" session where he custom tunes your car over the internet while you are at the dyno. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Hahah...I have a lot of friends and family that I don't talk to often so my website is my way of letting everyone know what's going on in my life at that particular point in time. Glad it brought you some sort of amusement.

I've been debating whether to go with C&L or JLT. I hear they BOTH give big gains, but I'm wondering if the extra 100 bucks for the C&L is worth it. I'm not much into looks (C&L looks cooler IMO).

Either way, thanks for the input man, I really appreciate it.

Brenspeed also offers the C & L Racer CAI with a tune. It has the same design as the original C & L CAI. The only difference is that it's lighter in wait because I think it's plastic, it's black, and $75 less than the original. I still haven't decided which I'm going to get. I have the C&L myself, but if you are not concerned with looks, then definately go with the JLT. It's cheaper and makes similar power.

I have tried both Brenspeed and Bamachips tunes, and I personally prefer the Bamachips tune!

Doug at Bamachips; couldn't be happier and the guy has great customer service. He offers torque or performance tunes for any octane you want.

Brenspeed Tunes are great and the guy will work with you to adjust your tune. I live in Cali and the gas is
poor so brent worked on my program until it was just right. It seems Brent or Doug is the the only way to
go.

I second Ken at MD motorsports, I sent him my Airaid pipe and he made me a custom tune for it. He already sent me my next tunes for my gear swap next week also.

I think it was said that JLT had the biggest gains, and I would use Doug as your tuner, no better service (I mean, if Brad used him for his car, what does that tell you? he could've gone with anyone)

I personaly went with Doug because of all the good I hear about him. Not that the other doesnt have and good reports....doug just comes up more. Also with doug you get a tq and a performance tune....different flavors make the world go around so that helped me. He is also closer to me and I plan to let him put my car on a dyno and fine tune it if need be.

aww heck no - now does that mean your gonna whip my butt even worse in the quarter?

you know my car and what I'm pushing - we have similar mods.....you know my vote is Brenspeed all the way. I have always had great experiences with Brent and from what I hear/see on the net, his tunes are even better for manual than they are for my auto tranny.

I have also heard nothing but good things about Doug @ Bamachips...

I dont think you can go wrong with either of those two...
