Busy day ahead

Well, I've got a busy day ahead, or weekend. After putting on the S/C, it took about 2 minutes into the first ride to realize the stock tires and brakes didn't really meet the new requirments (IMO) of the cars new potential. Oh, who am I kidding, I just like modding the car! So... started surfing the forum and came up with the following....

1. Mounting 18x9 / 18x10 CT-R's with Nitto 555 255/45 front/ 295/45 rear. Going to throw them in the back of the L and have them at the tire shop at 7:30 am, drop 'em off, and come back later to get 'em.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch:
2. Cutting a half coil off the rear springs. A cheap experiment in dropping the rear a half inch to make up for the taller rear tires(295 should raise the rear .65" since they are 1.3" taller). If it doesn't work out (rough ride/bottoming out/tires rubbing/I just don't like it) I can get a set of like new take off springs from egay for 40 bucks.
2. Putting on a set of Stoptech crossdrilled rotors. Got these for a steal at $214 a set.
3. Throwing on some Hawk HPS pads, Earl's SS brake lines and bleed in all new Motul 600 brake fluid.
3. While I'm at it, why not go ahead and paint the stock calipers Duplicolor Red. Might as well, the box has been sitting in the garage for about a year now, LOL!

So, a busy day in store, but should be fun. Oh, yeah, I need to stock up on a little beer before I get started. I'll post feed back and tips later.

Staying refreshed is key to any down-home garage work....good idea

Let us know how your brakes turn out- should be a nice improvement!

PM me with where you got the Stoptech deal. I'm still waiting for that on the other boards to refund my money from the rotorpros that I returned.

I got the Stoptechs off egay from a closeout sale from Dream Motor Car.

Well, CT-R sent me the wrong size rear wheels. These are undoubtedly the 22mm size. They stick out way past the fender. Of course, CT-R is closed today, so I'll just have to stew until Monday.

I'm going to ask them to ship me two new wheels of the correct size, pay shipping of the wrong wheels back to them, have them set up for UPS to come pick them up from my house, and pay for having to remove the tires from the wrong rim, and mount and balance tires on the correct rims. Do you think this is reasonable? I don't see why I should have to pay any more out of pocket for their mistake.

I'm going to go back to the busy tire shop now in holiday shopping traffic and waste some more time.

I got back from having the tires mounted, slapped on on the rear only to see this!:

I also got the rotors from dcf closeout sale for 207 plus shipping. Awesome deal. I think these are 400-600 bucks for all 4 normally. Where are you getting the ss line from, do you have a link. I am looking at all the different brands. Thanks sounds like you got what I god, MOD-itus. LOL

I remember seeing those on Ebay. If I could have got the fear of drilled rotors cracking out of my head, I may have jumped at those!!

Some curb feelers, a chain-link steering wheel, and a bobble-head doll of the TacoBell dog in the back window would look good with that offset.......

The wheels have ET 22 stamped on the inside, definitely the wrong size. Now to wait around until Monday to see what John at CT-R is going to do about it. I'm sure he'll make it right, sounded like a great guy over the phone.

I got the Earl's SS brake lines from In Motion Performance. I had never heard of them before, found them on a Google search. Lines where 109 shipped for all 4 of them. I thought that was a pretty good price.

It was one of those days. The rear disk brake tool that was suppossed to fit Fords... didn't. Had to drive back up and swap it out for a Nissan one.

Then the Duplicolor brake caliper paint kit had everything in except for... the paint. So I had to go get another. Looks like I'm destined to have black calipers, because they were out of red, and the Stoptech rotors are black anyway.

Good news, I got a call for John at CT-R. My new correct size wheels are being shipped out Monday, no charge, along with packing slips to return the 22mm ones. And Frank at Vannoy tires didn't charge me to seperate the tires and wheels after I explained the situation. So things are looking up!
