The British Point of View...
From the European viewpoint, he is correct about car development. About the brakes, he is right-on. He forgot to mention that 'overhere', 'everyman' can afford - well almost -'everyman' a Mustang. Different environments - different concepts about cars.
European snobbishness at its best.
He seems angry that 80% of the American population can easily afford a Mustang, but seens to brush off the fact that only 2% of the British population can afford that Lotus that he loves so much.
He also seems to ignore that VW is now a complete failue in the American market. Almost no one in America gives a rat's a $ $ about VW. VW is barely hanging on in this country and seems to have lost any touch it once had with the American market.

...In conclusion, he sucks at life.

Bad form my old chum. Love his Aston Martin (Ford) and Jag (Ford) references as well. Wonder how he'd feel to learn that Aston's V-12 started life as two 3.0 litre duratec V6's (yeah, from the Taurus) lined up end to end.
As for America's ability to build a sport's car, I would love to see a head to head b/w Aston's flagship (the Vanquish S) and a Ford GT or the upcoming Z06. We'll see who's screaming "rubbish" then...
P.S. I recall the British having an interesting "point of view" about their submissive New England Colonies sometime around the late 1700's

Well, being European myself, I first would like to say that not all Europeans consider the new Mustang as rubbish. I bought one and I am as happy as I can be and I know tons of people back in Switzerland and Italy salivating at the idea of getting their hands on one (and over there, for a GT you spend 40 to 45k dollars AT BEST... As Ford doesn't sell them officially, so called parallel importers buy them here, have them shipped to Europe, modify them to suit their nation's law and then sell them with incredible mark ups compared to what is the price here in the USA). So please don't get the wrong idea about Europeans from this guy's article, ok ? Consider this: as we say in my country of origin, "the mother of stupid people is always pregnant" and this guy seems to fall in this category...
This said, I would like to say that I am not surprised at ALL by his article: I lived in England for about two years and Brits are generally quite good people (unless they get drunk...in this case they revert back to caveman status in a millisecond...never mess with a drunken Brit...), but they definitely have the tendency of considering themselves the best in the world in everything (I believe this is some kind of feeling generated by the fact that in the colonial era, they had a gazillion colonies under their rule) and therefore many of them appear to be extremely pompous individuals.
Probably, for the average Brit admitting that an American car maker can actually produce a car that is among the best in the world for what they give you in relation of what you pay for, it is a quite painful admission. Combine this with the fact that in England for 25-30k you can only buy cars that are not even in the same league (and by a looooong shot) of the Mustang, that most of the british car industry has gone bankrupt or it's in the hands of foreign companies and you can get a clear picture of why this guy has written this pile of rubbish.
In one word, FRUSTRATION.
