Breaking in engine...
Well asking this question is kind of like asking a bunch of weight lifters the best way to get big. They all have their own opinions and success stories, like there is no absolute right way.
If you've seen my other thread, I just purchased a 2008 Vista Blue GT 2 days ago. She has 50 miles on her. This is a car I won't daily drive, and will probably put 500 miles on it a month tops (just a car for the nice weather).
I'm just trying to figure out the best way to break in the motor as far as oil is concerned. Some people say just change the oil at 3,000-5,000 miles. Some say, use regular old crappy oil for the first 1,000 miles, change to synthetic blend until 3,000, then switch fully to synthetic. THEN there are some who change it every like 500 miles until they hit around 3,000 miles.
I know, a lot of variables right? Well what do you all think? Ultimately, I will use Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil in it (as I do with every vehicle I own). Any input is appreciated!

Well I didn't drive it real easy since for the most part with modern tolerances it's broke in from the factory, but I did change the oil at 500 miles, and replaced it with the standard semisynth Motorcraft oil. Next I'll do one at 2700ish with the same semisynth and then at 5000 go to full synthetic and then change ever 5000 from then on.
That way your first 5000 miles are kept very fresh but with blended oil (It's supposed to help seals and bearing break in better, if that's true is another story) then you can start your regular 5000 intervals.
Maybe some will say it's excessive, but it's just oil and a filter and 20 bux is worth a well operating engine to me.
