I got my car back from the tune shop on Sunday, and the brakes are no longer squeaking. We abused the heck out of them, and had to stop to let them cool off. Ever since then they quit squeaking. I hope this resolves the issue for good.

My brakes started squeaking at around 1800 miles.

It seems to be getting louder.

I'm taking it into the dealer tommorow.

Might explain why this issue hasn't developed for me. I've spent some time drivin it on twisty mountain switchbacks going downhill taking it to it's limit. Lot's of brakes, lot's of acceleration. No brake sqweak.

It's also been noted by somebody else that it goes away after awhile once the brakes are broken in so to speak.

Im at 3500 miles and mine still squeak. Im taking my car in Friday for the popping noise in the front, to have the bolts on the bell housing installed, and to have the brakes checked.

I have used mine pretty hard and it hasn't gone away, in fact its actually getting louder.

You should be able to find somewhere the procedure for 'bedding in' new brake pads (and in this case, new rotors). I did it with my last car, but can't tell you the exact procedure. I know I used country roads that allowed me to get up to certain speeds, then come to a good stop, and then sit to allow the rotors to cool before doing it again. I had to do this ten times, at varying speeds, and then the pads and rotors were 'bedded in'.

I have a feeling that this doesn't need to be done and that the sqeeking is due to the metallic material used in the pads.....but someone is welcome to try it and let us know if it helps....

Well it sounds exaclty like what happened to mine, and the sound is gone for now. The rotors turned blue just like it says.

If it was the material in the pads don't you think a lot more of us would have this problem. I saw a survey on this subject and the ratio was about 33% of the people who took the time to vote had this problem. I am sure the ratio would be alot less if everyone had responded.

Has anybody taken the stock pads off to see if they were glazed over or not?

Snow is still on the fields, but the roads are dry, so today I put full coverage on the car, and went for my first drive.

I followed the procedure above for bedding in the brakes, and now my discs are a nice blue colour. My wheels really need a cleaning though.

I am hoping this will prevent the squealing problem some people reported. I did the same on my 91 Miata (modified), and it really helped to makes the brakes more responsive.

Ian - mine have started to squeek on a "sometime" basis and I was curious....what did your dealer change to stop your squeeking....did they install the same pads new - or a different pad or what...I ask because mine did not start squeeking until 2800 miles and just installing new pads may be a temp fix until you get more miles on them and they start up all over again.....has Ford acknowledged this issue and are they working on a fix for us?

My dealer replaced the rear brake pads and the squeeking is no more.

I'm hoping it's gone for good
