brake line flare - double vs. bubble

brake line flare - double vs. bubble
Does the type of brake line determine whether a double flare or bubble flare is require for that particular line? I know the connections (standard, metric) need to match the flares, but is there more to it?
I just tried making a double flare on the stock brake lines and using a standard connection for my 05 Mustang. However, it's leaking.
The double flares I did on the steel lines bought in the store are doing fine. The store lines had double flares on them. The stock line had a bubble flare on it.
