Brake Help Rotors?

Ok guys, so my brakes are shot to $hit... so I take it in to ford for my maintenance plan and my rear rotors are shot. I would like to take the opportunity to upgrade my brakes but I just don't have the cash. My question is I'm looking at newtakeoff.com and I don't see rear rotors, just the front? are the interchangeable? I'm never really delt with brakes before. Maybe other suggestions? By the way Ford wanted like 170 a rotor! haha

Not the same rotor at all. $170 per rotor for rears seems a little on the steep side to me. You can get a pair of Stillen cross-drilled rear rotors for $199. Others I am sure are priced about the same.

If you just want brakes, and have no concern for the "bling" factor of drilled/slotted, just get thee to NAPA, IIRC, they were around $50 a pop, with painted hats.

Well last fall I bought 4 drilled and slotted rotors with the zinc coating and new brake shoes from Rotorpro for like $320 shipped. I am sure they are more now due to material costs and shipping but they are just great. And you will find it hard to buy stock takeoffs with new pads and shipping for much less.

I'll be changing mine soon, not because they need to be replaced but because I'm changing them for cross/drilled. Don't know how bad in shape yours is, but if you can hang on for a bit, I'll sell you mine (10K miles, didn't abuse them).

PM me and let me know.

Call or email newtakeoff.com. They have the rear rotors, but just don't have them on their website. Same price as the fronts last time I checked.

thanks Import, Ya I would say its time to upgrade them, but I have NO cash and Ford is going to do the brake work and pads for free, all I have to do is find the rotors.

WuTimeUT,

Are you in Austin? I changed my rotors a couple of months ago. I've got the originals that had about 4,000 miles on them in the attic. PM me if you are interested. I'm in Victoria. If you want them let me know what you think they worth and maybe we can work something out. I'm not going to reuse them, but I couldn't see throwing them away.

Gary

Gary,

Thanks for the offer but I'm not sure if Ford will honor my warranty if they're new looking. I got some online for $40

Glenn,

We were very lucky here. We're getting more rain today from a cold front I guess than from the Hurricane. No damage either on my end, the winds picked up while I was asleep Friday night, but we are about 105 miles south west of where landfall occured. If you ever want to be that close to a large hurricane, it is best to be in the southwest quadrant as it passes north west. Anyway. We're good. Unfortunately alot of my friends in Houston aren't so good.
