If I had the money to do it over again, I'd go with a turbo. But, that's even more money than a blower. I have financial constraints that had to be considered; plus I show my car and have a CDC shaker and that complicates things alittle more, much like your CS6 hood does. Comparing blowers, for how I drive my car and the mods I have including the 4.10s, I'd do a centri again without a doubt. The other blowers are great too, but that's my opinion.

Have you ever driven dirtbikes? The comparison is alot like that..... twin screw blowers = a four stroke bike; centri-style blowers = a two stroke bike. The four stroke bike has great all around performance and can haulass for sure...... the two stroke bike is still nice to tool around on, but when you start getting into the powerband ~3000rpm, hold on because it pulls like a mother.

Again- the best advice from anyone is do your own research, consider your budget, and make the best choice for you.

We need to get together sometime. I've got a lot of first-hand experience with both centrifugals, roots, twin screw and even turbo systems. And if you'd like to drive a whippled S197, come on over! I'll PM you my number if you're interested.

Here's the break down on cost for my Saleen SC

Saleen Base SC kit $4500 deliver
Brenspeed tune 180
39 lb match injectors 319
Steeda CAI 250
3.6 Pulley off ebay 75
Installation 0

Total 5324

You can do without the tune, the injectors, the CAI, and the Pulley.

Your choice

I drove willie's SICK gt500 tribute... and i am not only jealous, but convinced that a supercharger is neccesary for me to stay alive.

I think a centrifugal is in my future because of limited underhood space. I dont think the spinup issue will be very prominant because of the 4.10 gearing. I figure low rpm power is not too important since you are never racing anyone and staying under 2500 rpms. besides with 4.10 gears I am at 2500 rpms by 10 mph in first gear **** near. I also like the idea of an air/air intercooler. someone mentioned torque issues. Could you expand on that statement?

Glad to have met you and thank you for letting me drive your wickedly looking car! Although we discussed different types of superchargers, the one thing we didn't talk about was turbos. Let's try to get together for lunch this week...

And thanks for the compliment on my car. FYI, I'm only making 9-psig boost. When you drove it, I was watching my digital boost gauge and you hit only 6.8-psig. Wait until I replace the blower pulley, tweak my tune AND calibrate my "classified" add-on system!!

well today another interesting turn of events...

I have the chance to purchase a used magnacharger from a very cool guy who wants to go turbo. I have done some research on these units and I think it should fill the bill for me quite well. it comes with a 6lb pulley, but there are pulleys out there that will bring it up to 13 lbs if desired (please correct me if you know otherwise!)

I would be getting the unit for around 3000 with all the neccesary equipment for install (pump, injectors, etc)

with the extra cash I can get a forged rotating assembly ($1250.00 plus $125.00 for balancing)

and probably headers and a catted h pipe ($1400)

and still be in the neighborhood of a whipple as far as price.

I am pretty sure I am going to keep the rwhp under 475 because I dont want to blow my tranny, so i think this might be a great choice.

I like the magnacharger because it is loud, very well built from what i have seen, makes great power and torque, and should fit under my cs6 hood (please let me know if you know differently about the hood)

I also like the roots type design because it is old school tech with new tech additions (like the car is)

if this thinking is flawed in any way, or you have direct experience with the magnacharger that would help with my decision please let me know!

Only thing I have to say about it is I haven't seen all that many people using it and there could be a reason for it. I don't know what that reason would be, but there could be one. Then there are guys like 05YellowGT who have one and love it. My D1 might be on the market very soon.

Nice choice Johnny. They are solid units. A friend of mine has one and is running at 417 RWHP with a conservitive tune and man does that thing scream. I thought my Roush was loud but his Magna is much louder. He also begins to feel boost around 1200 rpms as well.

As far as the hood I wondered the same thing myself but obviously it's not that easy to pop his SC off and toss it on mine car to see hood clearance LOL. It may be fine and it may not be.

If it helps any here is why there are clearance issues. The Shelby hood is a bit thicker between layers even though the top layer is built up higher then stock.





Here are the points on my SC where contact was made. Bare in mind I took a look at the hood liner on my stock hood and there where slight indentations from the same spots so it looks like the Roush is a really tight fit under stock as well.



Other things to take into effect if you haven't done so already. If possible you may want to replace your stock motor mounts to stiffer/lowering ones. These will lower the motor little plus help keep it still when you get on the throttle. After I modded my hood and it fit I got on the throttle hard and had more contact because the engine moves.

Roots is definitely old school, but less efficient than twin screw.

yeah i thought it was 1250, but it was more like 1800

Thanks allot! definately hae thought about the engine mounts, but i think the maggy is actually a little lower than the whipple which requires hood mods also. not sure how much though...must find out!!!

Not sure how much boost it can handle through tuning. Have you tried contacting Haneymotorsports about it? You could also contact Steeda as well for information on the Maggy since they use it on their Q cars.

As far as old school goes it fits right in with it's looks as well IMO but depending on what you are looking to do in regards of power for now and down the road you may want to take a serious look at the Twin Screws, Kenne Bell especially but you won't get a lot in terms of sound (then again they are not built for sound). If I am not mistaken the KB's are pretty quiet.

I am along the lines of Tom. If I ever max out my car where I have gotten everything out of it that I can and more power is the answer I will be taking a serious look at at KB or a Turbo to replace the Roush.

I did have a problem with my BMR strut tower brace in one place , so I hammered the bottom of the strut a little and now it's OK. I have a conservative tune using the 3.1" pulley which is supposed to be about 8 psi boost and we got 430 RWHP with it. You might call Steeda and ask about the 2.85" pulley which produces about 10 psi boost , I'm sure they're probably running it or a smaller one on their car. As far as the sound , it startled me the first time I got on it but I love it now , it sounds like a jet plane. You feel the boost as soon as you step on it and in 1st and 2nd it wants to go side ways on me. For the price you're getting it for , I don't think you'll regret it. So I say go for it

yeah baby! thanks for the insight !!!! any heat issues with that pulley? How was the install? any tips for me?
