BFG All-Terrain T/A KO tires?
Has anyone installed these on their 05-09 GT? I have a 2007 GT with stock 235/55R17 Pirelli tires on the stock 17" wheels. As a winter contingency plan, in the event my current winter car somehow fails, I'd like to use this Mustang for driving in the snow/salt/ice. In order to do so, I need good tires. I've done this "mod" on my current winter car. It's a 2000 Crown Vic running 215/70R16 BFG All-Terrain TA KO tires. Stock tires were 225/60R16 and these are slightly taller and narrower.
The 225/70R17 BFG's are severe snow rated and have a S speed rating. I know I will lose lateral grip, dry traction, and I'll have to recalibrate my speedometer and reduce the speed limiter. These tires also look about 2-1/4" taller in diameter. Just using a gauge and walking around the car, there looks to be sufficient clearance!
I used to use snow tires in the winter, and summer tires in the summer with the Crown Vic. It got old real quick because the snow tires lasted one season and sucked on dry/wet tarmac.

As you know, those are great snow tires.
I run 215 15" on my truck year round and I love them.
But on a 'Stang???
Maybe car snow tires would be better.
I also can't imagine your CV dying. How many miles are on it?

I've been using the BFGs on my Crown Vic since August, for about 3000 miles? They've already been through 5-9" of snow and ice. I noticed a reduction in lateral grip during hard turns. There's also a bit of traction loss on dry pavement (hard acceleration for instance) - but overall much more manageable than car snow tires. The BFGs are also much more aggressive than snow tires.
