BEWARE of Jet Performance Chip!

as I posted on the other thread. I just pruchased the JET chip and it will be here Tuesday. I think the JET Chips have been great, I had one on my 02 V6 b4 i got my 05 and it was amazing and def felt a power increase. I find it hard to believe a chip could hurt a tranny, i don't see how that adds up. Yea I could understand if the tranny was bad or built crappy, then it could fail. But a plug in 20 horse chip? I can understand a SUPERCHARGER blowing a tranny if the tranny was not made to handle a supercharger. End of story, had that chip on my 02 V6 for 2 years with 55,000 miles on it and no problems! I love JET...

Please read your statement in Bold, and then Italic..
.. learn some more before making statements like that. If U think its not possible, U have no idea what parameters are affected by tuning the tranny. Point being...of course a chip could, depending how its calibrated...your wrong.
Well in the end, the shop and my own expertise DEFINITELY tell me that the Jet chip was the catalyst for my transmission failure. One of the main things that the chip does, I noticed, is allow my engine to rev a lot higher and a lot faster, which of course put more wear and tear on the transmission, which facilitated its demise... thats what I was told and thats what I believe. And if I'm wrong, well then instead of having my warranty cover the transmission replacement, I got screwed and had to pay it myself. In response to someone else's reply of my original post on this matter, I KNOW i should've taken out the piece, I was all messed up that day with dental surgery and other things, and trust me it is one of the biggest financial mistakes I've ever made and I wish I could take it back. Anyway, the moral is, be very wary of these types of modifications, and I would suggest not purchasing Jet Performance Modules but do whatever you like to your own vehicle.

I'd like to know how specifically this chip upgrade wasted this trans. I frequent lots of car chats and I can say this. LOTS of people have issues with Dodge transmissions that do NOT have the Jet chip installed. It seems to be a semi-frequent issue with their trucks and some cars regardless of chip install or not.

I installed a Jet Stage II chip in my '97 Wrangler. It had 55,000 miles when I installed the chip, and 113,000 when I sold it. NEVER had a problem. I definitely felt a power increase when I installed the chip, then more with the K&N CAI, then again with the full off-road exhaust.
I've also heard about Dodge's / Chryslers in general having problems with their tranny's. I think he had a bad experience with his Dodge and was looking for someone to blame.
